Yeah, the car cost £450, so the brakes etc cost me £25 more than the whole car! But, i thought its worth it with brakes when my 16 month old daughter is in it sometimes. So after that, I'll have to delay any further bits. Wish i had the know how to be able to the stuff myself.

I'd take it somewhere else mate, you're getting absolutely shafted. £500 for some brake work and a tyre is a disgrace!

I'm actually in shock that they can get away with charging you nearly £200 for a pair of brake drums. And £5 for a tyre valve????? On top of the balancing and disposal?

Also brake shoes are about £15, so how can you warrant nearly 100 notes for a competent mechanic to fit them.

Sorry lol but as someone already said, I am so glad I do my own work. When you get an idea of how cheap the parts are to buy yourself bills like that just seem unbelievable.

That's Kwik Fit all over for you, my old 6N failed on the service brake, rear kerbside wheel bearing needed replacing due the brake cylinder leaking. They said it needed new front discs and pads, new rear shoes and new bearing, quoted me £813!! I took it to a different place and they said the front brakes had about 3-4000 mile let on them and the rear shoes just needed cleaning up and they had about 8-9k left on them. £200 for the new bearing, cylinder and mot.

I recently changed to a 9N which needed new front pads, Kwik Fit quoted £100!! Bought the pads for £25 from the local motor factors and did it myself.

OMFG!!!! £92 for brake cylinders?!?!?! WTF they cost £11 pounds each from an auto factors!!! id get trading standards on those bastards!! but on a good note its a very nice lookin breadvan and should last you a life time now happy motoring :)

Thanks! Yeah, I know to get the parts first and seek a mechanic to do it from now on. And, it best last me a lifetime now!

not being nasty here...these cars often need a fair bit of repairs and tinkering , id strongly suggest you find a more realistic garage or maybe a local forum member that can do basic diy jobs for a bit of beer money
