Joe's 6N Stormtrooper

Featured Replies

he's here! i got my 6n! £750 worth of awesomeness!

I love it, few things need sorting though:

Rust on sills and rear arches is appearing, not too bad

wheels need a refurb, will do that over winter

needs to go lower

need to fix the window issue, i currently have the drivers window in the boot, and no mechanisms, off to the scrappy tomorrow though, and I'm gonna gaffa tape the window closed if i cant fix it tomorrow, as i work and my girlfriend live in an area of nottingham that's mostly on fire...

12x6 front plate, and my illest plate surround - sorry guys not a fan of the german pressed plates!

fix hella fog's that dont work

so I've got a short list of niggles and piggles but nothing too serious, or hard to fix!

here's a piccy.

EDIT ~~~~~~

I thought i'd turn this more into a project thread, as really this is what the car will become. i intend to own the car over a period of years (i know) and really bring the car back to a state it once had, it looks asif a few years ago it had really been a very nice car, and over time it has become tired. my intentions are to fix the car up again, give it some real TLC and give the car a new lease of life!

so over the next few years, I'm sure we can look back and be happy :)

~~~ The following post has been copypasta'd from YCUK ~~~
alright had a few jobs on the polo today!
first of all, the drivers electric window wasn't working (common fault) (previous owner had given me a 5 door electric motor that was also broken)
so i had originally botch fixed it with some wood to have a permanently closed window. this wasn't good enough with this temperamental rain/heatwave weather, so i got up early and headed to a scrapyard to be disappointed with already pillaged cars. so i was clutching at straws, took an off chance with another local scrappy's after traipsing round half of nottingham and derby.
Came to the scrapyard and asked what i needed, polo, '98, leccy windows
"oh we got a polo same age as yours but i think its got wind up windows"
damn i thought, still i went over and had a look, opened the door (had to stand on a toyota twin cam engine as the car was plonked ontop another car) and BAM there were electic window switches.
so cracked the door card off and found a brand new electric motor, and an invoice in the glovebox for £70 including the fitting cost. and a not saying "problem not resolved" now the common issue for this issue is not the switch or motor, but the wiring in the door joint corrodes and splits, so i whipped back the rubber cover, and they were fu***d.
top, so grabbed a load of screws and clips as spares and paid £20 for the lot. top.
fixed my own door wiring loom as well (as it had also corroded and split) and refit my stereo, and got a new sub fuse as it had melted, didnt get round to winding my coilovers down, might do that tomorrow :)
ordered some slammed society stickers, and am on the hunt for a few bits and bobs!
heres a pic of the car today:
i think it looks like a little stormtrooper with the black on white theme.
it needs more lows though!
Hi all!
bit of an update!
the car got collected today for a strengthened and reconditioned gearbox and a fancy new clutch. lovely, it was on its way out anyway.
I think I might have to raise the car, as by my reckoning and research, the driveshafts were too far out of operational parameters, I had felt earlier that day a knocking sensation, like a wheel was loose, but they were tight.
this leads me to believe it was the shaft working loose around the box, and causing the seal to split.
I have also got a very large hatred for pressed plates. especially german ones, and have been meaning to get rid of them since i bought the car.
I've ordered a 12x6 front plate (for my Illest plate frame) and a standard UK one on the rear.
I have also (keeping up with the stormtrooper/star wars theme) bought a bumper sticker! yay
OK, so whilst my car is in the garage, i decided i HAD to get rid of the pressed german plates.
i had an Illest plate frame lying around, so i bought a 12x6 front and UK rear.
hope you like :)
feedback would be appreciated.
also a quck query, has anyone ran one of those ebay 4-2-1 manifolds?
not really looking for outright performance, more just for show as they look top, and decat-ness.
does the standard exhaust fit onto them or does it need a secondary exhaust?
So I gave the polo a clean today!
still filthy, i think it needs a polish, I've noticed a few scars and dings, so I think I might have to book it in for a respray! haha!
Wow, I've been inactive recently! OK, so I've recently had a few new additions, apart from general useage, tomfoolery, sticker removal and such, its similar if not the same!
i had the indicator bracket fall apart on me so i repaired that with rape tape.
i also purchased some 13" ATS Cups for winter wheels for a bargain £20. they even came with good (albeit huge) tyres
i also had purchased another backbox from the club, which keeps slipping off the hangars, so i took it off for the time being.
i also bought a new steering wheel!
heres some pictures :)
Thanks dude! and its there for when i get the front smoothed, not a fan of removing a numberplate on the front! so rather fit a smaller one :)
I can see a lot of potential in this! Keep up the work!
