10 years on the rubber sole is battered and grazes but the suede is like new, mainly as I used to clean them after use

They are comfy and cheap enough so that when I inevitability fuck them up pissing around with cars and shit it barely costs anything to replace them. Tobe you can catch athletes foot by simply using a towel someone with it has used never mind from a pair of trainers someone has had their feet in for a couple of hours or more. Also shit like scabies can be passed on through wearing trainers someone else has worn

I used to always chalk my feet and tip a bit inside before putting my shoes on as I couldn't wear socks with them. Climbing shoes are a very personal thing imho.

Think it rather do it bare footed than hire some......

That's why I don't go bowling, you never know who's had their feet in those shoes
