As most will have seen we've made a change in that the posting a new advert up Cars for Sale section is now a benefit to Club Members.

Can we have some feedback using the poll above if you want to keep this or not.

do you want to see adverts/cars for sale/wanted posts there?

Added a third option, so people who only want to vote on one can.

I personally think that the best thing about CP is there's everything there, free of charge, for someone who wants to own a Polo and keep it going. Then, if they become an enthusiast and extend their involvement in the club, then we have a credible package there which gives them additional benefits for a fee.

At the same time, as an owners club, we have been approached from time to time by people who've got some rather nice cars tucked away, but who aren't interested in becoming part of the site at all, who wouldn't mind seeing it go to use. If they email us about selling it, and we say "No problem, that'll be a fiver", there's a risk that their next call is to the scrapman.

As far as I know, we don't need the money, so that's a none issue and not a valid consideration either way.

But if they didnt want it to go to the scrap man, I think it costs about £40 to put an advert on Autotrader, for example. So theres plus and negatives to everything.

With regards to the Facebook site, I would rather it be Club news an maybe features like pic of the week, basically a summary of the clubs week or such, allowing sale/wanted will create a spam fest similar to all the other buy/sell groups available on there, it doesn't work very well as it isn't intended for that purpose, and besides we have a perfectly good, organised and well maintained sale section here. Just my 2cents :)

Yes they can view the car for sale threads its just currently forum users are unable to make any new threads in there..

That might of been on the last forum, but it is simply a few clicks now to be registered and paid as a club member.

As I have said, we are not asking for £5 for an advert, we are asking that if you like the site stick around get involved and become part of the community. If you like it support us so we can continue improving it because without you guys we are nothing.

With regarding the facebook group.. this was closed down as it duplicates the forum somewhat. And we do have a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/clubpolouk) where we post up news and share pictures.

I decided to open up the group again as there are quite a few people using the groups on Facebook so I thought it would be a good place for Facebook users to postup about there cars and have a general car natter. Not all Facebook group members are on or aware of the forum.

This is my take on things too.

I don't really like either of the facebook groups, I know the CP one is a good idea for admins to keep us up to date (if the site goes down again for example) but the other unofficial one that Sam runs just seems to duplicate whats already on CP.

I think our strength is in part to the footfall of traffic that comes through the site so anything that dilutes this can't be a good thing.

I don't think the official CP group should be used for anything other than admin updates.

No, should stay seperate I think with no for sale. As is is fine as its more a place where they can talk crap rather then on here filling it with pointless converstaions/threads

I've paid my fiver so could sell cars in there if I needed too, but now there would be less for sale on there and I could miss out on a bargain from a no paid member. I've already asked this question but has anyone making these decisions even looked in the polo's for sale section to see how dead it would be if all the non paid members adds weren't there? Last night page 3 had no adds from paid up members at all and the first two pages both less than half (one was a lot less). So under the new rules 3 pages of cars for sale would of been cut down to not even one page, where's the benefit in that?

If this comes out with a result of leave it how it's always been will that be implemented? I can understand that to get people to be members and pay up you need benifits but I think the forsale section is the wrong place for it, I'd rather the technical section be members only surely then thats a benifit of been a member?????

I don't pay a fiver a year for benefits (don't think I've even used any of them), I do it to support the club

problem with restricting the tech sections is the same kind of thing as the for sale section. you might have some very knowledgeable people that for whatever reason don't want to pay a fiver to be a full member. it would be paid up members missing out if these people can't offer them advice or answer questions on shit they know a lot about

OK.. not quite Friday... but will be implemented. The FB group could be a bit of an uphill battle though..
