2005 polo 1.2 judder and ecu light on/flashing

Hi

Just acquired a 2005 polo 1.2 with 44k miles on, it has to go back to the garage to have a clutch fitted as when you come up to bite point on the clutch it judders and shakes the car alot! I thought this could be the dual mass flywheel??

Anyway, my gf was driving and had ran the car a while on the fuel light and tonight the car lost all power and the ecu light appeared on the dash, the car hardly drives and revs to 2000rpm then dies off then on idle it nearly stalls. Sometimes you are able to rev the car through the rev range and other times i wont rev past 2000rpm The ecu light is either constant or flashes 6 or 7 times then constant. Btw i had filled it up with fuel and faults still remain. Any ideas would be great?
