My drivers door sill has had a bit of bubbling paint for a while but paint has now came away and rust is showing, any ideas on how to get rid of it. Many thanks

The best way to get rid of it is to cut it all out and weld in new metal. However if you bring it down till must of it is gone and good metal is showing then u can paint some rust stopper over it and the fill prime and paint. But rust will spread so best to take it out while it's still small

Grind down with a flap disc till most of the pitting is gone, not too much or you'll thin the metal though

Is only a small bit that's hardly noticeable as the door hides it but don't want it getting worse

There's loads of different ones they come in a gel and a paint on. Hammerite do one which I believe is could rust stopper. But have a shop around I know stinky pete uses a gel but can't remember what it's called have a look through his last through pages on his build he mentions it

Always works very well

Though if its hidden I'd be tempted to just slap some hammerite smooth on it, it has a rust inhibitor in it

If your car has done 170,000 miles like mine then a bit of rust is forgivable lol

Try Vactan or POR15 - best on the market for rust conversion...Cheers, Chris

Pete uses Jenolite.

I have used POR 15 which is a wash, an etch, a treatment, and then a paint. It's very good as the paint since nice and thick. I've used it on battery trays and things.
