Hello all! :)

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls, how are we all?

Name's Tom (or acme if you prefer). I drive a 2002 Polo 9N 1.2 as you can see from my profile, completely stock at the moment, with next to no optional extras, and the most common paint colour... As you can imagine there are various things I want to fiddle about with to make it my own.

I thought it would be nice to join another community to ease the process and get some friendly advice ;)

My humble to-do list:

- 9N2/3 rear lights

- Colour matched rubbing strips

- Colour matched door mirrors

- Colour matched front & rear valances

- Colour matched door handles

- Front foglights

- Alloys (Possibly 9N3 GTI)

- Coilovers (lower by 40MM so the insurance company doesn't place a bounty on me)

- New speakers & head unit

- De-Badge (only the Polo and 1.2 badges)

- Attempt to fit electric windows (?)

I like the fact that yours is purple, its a far less common colour. You were lucky to find it :) My favourite standard colour on these cars is the metallic mid blue (not sure of the paint name/code). My car was dubbed 'moxxi' by one of my friends after someone made an immature comment about 'airbags'. It's a reference to the Borderlands character.

Welcome along

Thanks

I will almost certainly join the club soon. Probably in a few weeks. What does the 'club' side of clubpolo do exactly? Meet-ups? Group drives?

Cheers :) Haha thats fair enough, Pandora is a good name. Honestly, all these people getting handed down cars...

Hehe, glad it's not just me that's been surprised by it ;)

If my car had been handed down i'd be able to afford the mods I intend to do.

Haha I can afford everything bar the wheels and coilovers, but I need to see how much my insurance will go up by before attempting any of it

I can only do suttle mods, not any pricey ones just yet as I am in the process of movin house and I have that to decorate too :( sucks being an independent young woman sometimes lol!

What you most wanting to do to your car first?

In all honesty, I'm going to make sure that the car is working great as standard, as there's a few things that need fixing on mine, one being the inside cupholder, as my Mum got so frustrated she ripped it out and I need another, the second being the rear window spray, it doesn't seem to spray, and I reckon it's going inside the car and doing damage inside, so I'll check that.

Proper Mod List would be:
-Pressed Plates
-Black Badges (Can't de-badge as my bonnet would have the oval from where the badge was still there so may as well paint them black/another colour if I decide to get coloured door sills)

-Tints

-Stickers

-Wheels & Coilovers

-Alarm System with Central Locking

My rear spray doesn't work either :(

Mine does, but it does seem to spray it in every single direction apart from the one that you want it to go in.

My rear spray works fine \o/

I'm going to get a matching set of hubcaps and get the trim painted first, as I cant get away with much more on my insurance. It will probably be a long while before I can get my 9N3 GTI alloys and 40MM lowering springs. :(

In addition to the list in the OP I want smoked front headlights and pressed plates, but I dont know where i'd get smoked headlights, and I only just bought some new plates

There's plenty of big meets we do as a club (unfortunately it's the end of the show season now though)

Browser through the major shows/events sections and local meets to see what about

Little bit of an update:

- I have just bought some beautiful newly-refurbed BBS RXII 16" splits with a set of nice tyres

- I'm looking to buy coilovers to fit at the same time as the wheels (I have a wanted thread up for those. Help meeee?!)

- I am going to get the colour matched trim done fairly soon thanks to a friend of a friend

- I have fitted the aftermarket head unit (some cheap Sony thing, but it means I can plug in my phone/mp3 player for music)

- I've abandoned the replacement speakers plan for now

- I haven't thought any-more about the electric windows. Maybe somewhen!

When the bulk of the work is done, there will most certainly be a picture update and maybe a thread. 8)

I'm not too concerned about the lack of logic behind throwing all this money at mods for an old 1.2 Polo because my next car will probably be another 9N/9N3 :pardon:

A 9N 1.4 Sport 100HP would be just the ticket in a 18 months or so!
