MK2 Golf 20vT massive spec! 275bhp, LSD, 4 Pots, etc etc

Featured Replies

The time has come to sell my pride and joy - Vince - The 20vT. I have owned him since Sept 2009. This is the longest I have EVER kept a car! (I did sell him to my little bro last summer, he kept him for a couple of months, drove him about a dozen times, and then went and got a mk1 caddy! so I had him straight back!) Sorry it is a long ad, but the spec list of this car is HUGE! Also unlike most for sale, the engine number and CC has been changed on the V5 so everything is all legal.

MOT: 4 April 2014

Tax: March 2014

Price - £5399 ono for everything, or £5000 ono for just the car without the spares etc

Good points: EVERYTHING!! This is a massive spec car! the last time i looked I believe the recipients added up to about £10k! the basics are:

Body work is solid! all the normal rust spots like the filler flap area are fine, I cleaned all the inner arches when I changed the fuel tank over, so there is not a pule of mud and silt up there holding water and hiding rot, plus the car is always garaged, and only ever comes out when the weather is nice in summer, this car has not seen a wet day in 4 years!

AUQ 20V from low mileage skoda octavia, installed spring/summer 2009 - it was the 3rd 20v by the previous owner who was an sparky by trade - he only sold it due to getting on the properly ladder.

K04 turbo, inlet and injectors

Qpeng loom and ecu with switchable boost - 180bhp or full 275bhp, easily changed from the drivers seat while on the move

engine mapping checked by Ben at Qpeng summer 2010, boost tweaked up to 1.52bar peak, apporx 275bhp peak with apporx 280lb foot torque

front mount inter-cooler - mounted in bumper, even in 30deg summer heat peak boost temp was logged at 52deg... VERY low for a turbo! Intercooler painted black for stealth look and also improve heat transfer

Carbon CDA air filter

Qpeng downpipe with jetex twin box stainless system

all new boost hoses 2010 by derby performance hose to neaten up the install and make all boost hoses dark grey

Blitz dump valve

Backdraft Motorsport baffled sump with armouring - made to the same design as the mk1 Leon super touring cars! not cheap!! but worth it!

Chromed rocker cover and fuel rail, plus polished inlet (I have let it go slightly matt for the bushed look, but will polish back up easily if required)

02J box from donor Octavia, fitetd with Quaife ATB LSD (Dives like a normal car around town but grips like a race car when pressing on), TDi 5th gear for lower RPM when crusing on the motorway, - full TDi gearboxes as most people use have ratios too long to make best use of the 20V power

ESC Stage 2 lightened fly wheel and clutch

hydro pedal box - new slave cylinder

RS2 master cylinder attached to 16v servo (biggest master cylinder that fits a 16v servo, give a nice pedal on 4 pots, mk2 master cylinders give a long pedal travel)

Bremsport 4 pots with semi floating 2 piece discs - 295mm, new discs 2011 at £150+ vat EACH! plus new mounting bolts, DS2500 pads - new 2011 hardly used, about 30k miles left in the discs and pads

mk4 rear callipers, new discs and mintex pads new 2011

new load sensing valve 2012

Witec fixed damping coilovers

fully polly brused all round

Eibach ARB front and rear

Eibach polished front upper strut brace

Carbon fibre bonnet, with good weave, GRP frame, so mounts with normal hinges and bonnet latch, no rust and is only 4kg vs 20kg, could easily be colour coded though if you wanted.

Speedline Comp 2 16" alloys powder coated Kawaski green by "the wheel specialist" Nottingham in 2010, Yoko Prada tyres, still aboiut 4-6mm left on them! - No marks or curbing so cheap and easy to change the colour on if you wanted to.

Vortex rear spoiler, like the OE but deeper a very rare optional extra from the dealers back in the early 90s, and with clear high level brake light

G60 arches front and rear

Safety Devices custom made rear cage - special made, not off the shelf, as it comes with a full rear X and harness bars, bolt in so easily removed if not what you wanted,

Cobra Monaco Pro FIA front seats - still in FIA date, sat on Cobra subframes, in FIA date until 2015

Ricco Racing 4 point harnesses - 3" webbing, again still in FIA date till 2015

Rear seat removed, but brand new never used bench supplied, retrimmed in Alcantra with red stitching - never fitted, got last winter with the idea of taking the cage out for some shows so we could all go in the mk2 as a family... never happened.... seats just been sat in spare room all Wrapped up to keep it clean..

full dash flocked, along with door cards (rear door cards fitted even though cage is in to help finish off interior)

mint rear parcel shelf

carpets still in the car

VRS gear nob

MOMO steering wheel

new windcreen in 2010 - no marks or stone chips!

electric windows

Dokota digital gauges - Oil pressure, Volts, and water temp - about £70 a dial plus sender! but look pimp!

SAGA boost gauge

Pro fitted Cobra cat 1 alarm and imob with cert - this is linked to the central locking to make it remote central locking

Battery installed in the boot in a proper battery holder

plumbed in oil catch can

good headlining

Cambelt, Aux belt and water pump (all genuine) done at the time of the conversion, running a mk2 PAS pump

new corrado VR6 rad at the time of conversion running 2 SPAL slim line fans, with adjustable fan switch, even in the height of summer in town in traffic it never gets above normal!

mk3 fuel tank (fits exactly the same as the mk2 tank, straight swap) with early mk3 VR6 4bar fuel pump, dash fuel gauge working correctly as mk2 and mk3 senders are a straight swap, mk2 under floor pump replaced by mk3 fuel filter, again straight swap.

Vibratechnics engine and gear box mounts - again new at the time of conversion, soild front engine mount (stops alot of the rocking, but the engine is still nice and smooth so it wont shake you teeth out sat in the car!)

a MASSIVE stack of receipts and history, I have pretty much every receipt from the conversion, and my mods and service parts, (conversion and build receipts are about £10k if I remember correctly from when I last tottled up), plus i have loads of old MOTs, history from when the car was an 8v from pervious owners etc..

Cobra Cat1 alarm imobliser linked to the central locking to make it remote central locking has also been fitted, comes with a thacham cat 1 cert for the insurance comapny.

All new sensors at the time of the conversion - pretty much all genuine VW ones with receipts,

New clutch slave cylinder - only changed as I didnt have a receipt to say it was new, so I changed it just so I knew it was new.

Uprated genuine N75 valve, the one ESC sell as the "race" valve, which is actually the one from a B5 RS4 £70 on trade from VW!

All new coil packs this spring - nothing wrong with the old ones, again just changed as I had no proof they had been changed, new ones were over £115 on trade!

There is an agreed value of £5500 on the car with the insurance company, A copy of the Agreed value cert will be provided.

The insurance is also pretty cheap, I am 28 (I was 27 when I took out the policy) and have comuting to work on my policy, with 5 years no claims I pay just over £400, even when i got the car back in 2009 I only paid just over £500 for it, fully comp with agreed value and protected no claims.

Bad points:

If I am being brutally honest the body work is good... theres no real rust, all the normal places are fine, i.e the wind screen, fuel filler etc theres one bit on the seam on the C pillar when you open the boot, and the front arches on the lip look a little scruffy where they have been tweaked for clearance by a previous owner, but all hidden by the G60 arches and still solid, over all this is way better than most mk2s out there! and non of the rust has gone any worse since I have owned the car, my body shop guy said it would be about a £1000 tops for a full re-spray, that is windows out, interior out and car stripped, you could easily have just the exterior sprayed over for alot less as the body doesn't need much prep before it is ready to spray. (My bodyshop is used to doing show cars or insurance work normally, so his stardards are very high!)

G60 arches are mint, along with bumpers, but they have gone a little patchy.. but easily sorted. never bothered me as they look OK, and I had planned to have the arches and bumpers smoothed and painted gloss place at some point,

small dint in passenger door - easily sorted and not really noticable

drivers door was keyed when last owner had the car, its been touched up but not the worlds best, - again could be easily sorted properly, never bothered me as the plan was to get the whole car resprayed in a year or so ready for entering car shows with..

Overall the body work has never bothered me, it looks good, always gets comments at shows and with no much money spent it could be dusted over and start winning trophies at shows, the metal work is solid, fillerflap etc is all solid! I'm just not interested in show and shine.. I'm more interested in track days, sprinting and just enjoying driving a well sorted car!

The new owner will not be disappointed! This by far the highest spec 20V in terms of the engine, gear box and running gear for sale, all it needs its a few hundred on the small marks on the body work and you could be enterring shows and winning all summer long! and having a hoot driving there and back, this car will not cost you anything to run, and will not lose you money, mk2s are only going up in value! we are only selling now as due to now starting a family I fancy building a camper van for next summer.

I have lots more photos, or come and see the car, first to see it will buy it, I also have a number of extras I will throw in for the right price

spare OE mk2 golf electric mirrors
spare rims which are the same design as the ones on the car with track tyres (3 rims, 5 tyres)
spare sump
spare K04 turbo complete with oil and coolant lines,
4 spare fully working coil packs
front silencer if you wanted to make the car any quieter (its a 3 box Jetex stainless 2.5" system but with a plain front pipe)
Jetta front conversion with2 grills (OE and debadged)
an assortment of spare sensors I have collected
plus anything else I find when digging through the garage..
