Just did a temp test today. Didn't overheat, but thats not it. After it was off for a few min it wouldn't tick over. Why would this happened when the engine is hot? Worked fine when cooled down.

Fuelling issue never came back. Spent time generally tidying her up.

Coolant flush, this was after 7 flushes!

Replaced fuel lines on tank. Looked rather ropey!

And yesterday I replaced the backbox. My shoddy roadside repair only lasted a cpl months.

Also changed high oil pressure switch as I keep getting buzzer warnings. yet to be fixed.

Just stripped the pressure switch plug and soldered it back on. Would you believe it, SOLVED. FFS, after all that.......

That minor aspects are always the most "revealing". I'de love to have my Polo with bumpers like this ones and that rocker cover all cleaned and simple (actually, I'm working on this right now ).

looks cool man, looks alot like my 1.3 1998 bready (condition wise), i also have water coming into the drivers footwell, put my hand up above the pedals and felt a pretty big rusty hole which was worrying...Ill set up a thread on what I've done with mine soon :)

Also tried halfrauds mars red on a patch on bonnet. Only I bought mars red 1 ot 2. Doh!

Mars red one is slightly lighter. Nicer actually.

I have a holed battery tray and my footwell used to fill up everytime it rained. I ran a bead of silicone along the inner wing edge and now the water runs down the wing instead of into the battery tray. Not had a wet floor since. Not fixed battery tray either tbh. lol

Shes ticking over very fast at the mo, even though the idle screw is all the way in (large one)

Despite this shes stupidly efficient pootling at a constant 50ish. Got well over 40mpg last long run. Total pants round town though. 29mpg on a good day.

Needs a proper tuneup. :(

Was thinking of putting a touch of something on there to make the water go elsewhere! Only problem i have is the drivers side wing is completely rotted and almost falling off the carA cheap replacement one i think by previous owner, struggling to find a replacement my self tho

So, she failed the MOT today. Tie rod ball joint worn and rotten battery tray around clamp hole. Passed the emissions, and easily!
