Impending newbie......hiya

Hi all.

Looking to buy a little golf runaround after seeing a couple yesterday.

It's for our 17yr old lad and have about £1500 to spend.

Saw a fairly tidy 52 model, 4 door with 89000 miles on it from a budget dealership.....you know the sort, lock up shed on some derelict land with loads of tatty cars and a few nice ones.

Seemed a nice enough bloke to be fair, just not comfy with set up.....prefer private buyers, meet at their house, get a good judge of type of person etc.

Anyway, we're new to the Polo marque and am not sure what to look out for when buying.

Thinking we should be able to get the newish 2003/4 ( is that the 9n or 9n/f?) model in tidy condition with 60+k miles.

Not fussed on 2/4 door or petrol/ diesel.

Any advice, suggestions, ideas would be welcome.

We are Gatwick, W Sussex based.
