My first polo!

Featured Replies

Well the recent events I've had regarding work have made me change my daily driver and as i need something cheapish on insurance and to run my plan of getting a polo has come together.

I've been toying with the idea for a while but never done anything then i spotted this on ebay a few days ago, contacted the owner, made an offer and I'm off to pick it up tonight

She needs a couple of things sorting, the indicators and horn arent working and theres a leak in the passenger footwell but hopefully the leak is the seal on the pollen filter and the indicators are relay, stalk fuses along with the horn.

Theres a bit of bodywork on sills and bottom of doors but not major.

short term its gonna have service, new rear lights, side repeaters and the body touched up long term id like heko window deflectors, bonnet bra, euro pressed number plates, debadged front grill and some interior mods but thats down to the convincing the missus as she wants a beetle in the new year.

Anyway managed to get the car for £240 plus probably £20 fuel to get it home but the insurance is nice and cheap and euro car parts have got a xmas sale on so the service kit is nearly half of what it should be.

Ill get some pics up once I've got her home of interior etc as i know how folks like pics on threads on forums from being on vauxhall ones for years.

Yea hopefully mate its a real bargain but I've spoke to the owner he seems genuine on phone about the faults and the only reason hes selling is his mums bought him a golf so all should be good

Welcome along

Thanks mate :D

Welcome. Ate, that looks a relatively tidy 6n.. Top buy, hope it's all ok after the little niggles are sorted

Ello ;)

Just make sure you buy the numberplates from a place that makes road legal ones or youll be slapped with a fine if stopped

well picked up the car and drove the 80 mile trip home down the motorway network that is the M5,M6 & M54 and apart from it "wobbling" (needs new rear shocks i think) and one of the rear wheels needing balancing it seems ok although I've not given it a major check over.

The body needs a few days spending on,theres laquer been sprayed on the roof i think because of peel that needs flatting back and the usual rust around sills and doors that I'm going to take back, treat then skim etc properly but ATM it will just be some rust killer until weather clears up.

The MOT is a month shorter than i was told and didnt notice til i got home so its up in 4 months but I've checked the MOT history on line and its only ever needed a balljoint and bulbs since 2006 so fingers crossed.

TBH it just seems like niggly bits that need doing but the indicators are the major problem.

Ill get some pics up tomoz when its light and I've seen whats what with it
