Hello all :)

I've had my green VW Polo 6n2 for just a few days over 2 years now, and it's been a tough one, but I love it all the more.

5 months into owning it (first car I've owned) I rear ended another car, a Mercedes to make things worse, which busted up a fair portion of the front end.

That's all in the past and repaired now, but I've spent a lot of money on general wear and tear repairs on the car, much more than I ought to have really. Because I love this style of VW so much (6n2, Mk4 sort of era) I've decided to keep the car and fully customise it to my liking. I've already got a few parts which I want to fit to it...

- GTi Leather Steering Wheel

- GTi Dashboard Clocks

- GTi BBS RX2 Alloys

- Foglights

- 40mm Lowering springs

I've already fitted a non-standard stereo, GTI grille, and the cupholder/coinholder to it. It came originally completely standard. Here's a couple pictures as it stands at the moment...

Last January

Bought the alloys from Tatton Park VW show in August, they need a bit of refurbishment before I fit them properly though.

I've got a lot of plans in mind for it, including:

- Paint refurbishment

- More interior lighting (rear centre light, lights around the doors)

- Recolour the ceiling similar to the colour in the new Audi's

- Window tint

- Polo GTI leather seats

- 2 cupholders in the front instead of just one

- Fit all the parts I've got for it (Alloys, lowering springs, GTI clocks, leather steering wheel, etc)

- Pressed number plates

- Possibly xenon lights

Few other nice things, but I can't remember any more at the moment. I'll try and keep this thread updated with my progress.

lupoluke fitted the GTI leather steering wheel I had, and I've half fitted the dash clocks I've got, they work too (for the most part), I'm well happy with them xD

Just need to get the surroud from a GTI which dosen't get in the way of the analogue clock.

Only problem with these is I've got the ABS light permanently on, which isn't too bad, but also the handbrake warning light keeps flashing on and off permanently. Just wondering if anybody else has had these problems and how to go about solving it.

Is it possible to take the ABS light bulb out?

Regarding the hand brake light, check the fuses on the battery, had the same with mine and it was the fuses. The abs light needs to be investigated, check all the sensors and if fine, scan with vagcom and clear all faults.

does the handbrake light flash at you and beep a few times first? if so, it will explain why the ABS light is on too...

you've got 2 faulty ABS sensors. get someone with a code reader or VAGcom etc and they'll tell you which ones are off.

It's a 1.0, it dosen't have ABS as standard. Luke said it's possible to code the ABS warning light though.

The handbrake light is off for a few seconds before starting the car, then it beeps three times and continues to flash for the rest of the time. It's only came on since I fitted the new clocks, I thought it was probably something to do with the ABS light.

Has anybody tried fitting/adding different interior lights, such as the Mk4 Golf ones with the two other lights (like this)? That's something quite high up and important on my to-do list at the moment.

I can 100% guarentee it does not have ABS.

But anyway the proper GTI clock surround just came through the post, fitting time xD

Mines a stock 1L and has ABS..

Hmm this project took an unexpected twist.

Member on here lupoluke offered me his 1.4 TDI 6n2, which already has a lot of the modifications I planned for mine, plus it's black, which is a bonus since that's the colour I prefer.

Probably gonna continue doing what I want to do but on the TDI, that's pretty much jumpstarted me a fair way. Paid the deposit on it today so hoping to have it within a week or two. Insurance isn't a lot more. :)
