Update on the polo!

Not updated this in a while but not much has really happened.

First of all managed to fuck subframe number 3. yes 3 :( The joys of having a low car.

IMG_5319_zps9f57ff14.jpg

Car was then of the road for 3 weeks as i had to buy a load of subframes before i got one that either fitted or wasn't bent.

Also the day after the subframe went i happened to find this on my type r

IMG_5163_zpsb9f716ff.jpg

After many angry emails i got the hint that Alpine where not interested so i done this

IMG_5303_zps8cce4456.jpg

And to a great surprise the sub sounds better than it did before it was cracked. Got to love Heli tape!!

So subframe finally back on car and a couple of days later this arrived.

Yeah 1 less downhill bike later and a months wages finally managed to put the car on bags. Just waiting on the struts arriving now.

IMG_5367_zpsdea677fd.jpg

Came back from work one night and couldn't stop thinking about where i was going to stick the auto pilot controller so this happened.

Anyone want to take a guess where its going :D

Finally decided that the car was covered in scratches and dents that it was in need of a new coat of paint. So away it went on monday but this is how it was before it was stripped.

UPDATE!

Finally got the polo back the other week. Better late than never i guess. Over the moon as it should be ready for Cumbria Vag.

Car went to "a friend of a friend" to get some body work done and a new coat of paint.

IMG_5597_zps9e5ef637.jpg

While it was away i must have changed my mind about 100 times on what i was going to do with it varying from selling it to spending a lot more on struts than i ever planned.

Air lift Struts thanks to low standard designs!

IMG_5731_zpsd1a77ab9.jpg

After many an email sent to alpine i was never getting the sub fixed so took to doing it myself and as horrible as it looks it sounds exactly the same.

IMG_5559_zpsad858c85.jpg

Went off these wheel for a bit but after a clean up i must say it changed my mind.

Well this weekend will be one to remember in both good and bad. Everything started off brilliant car was ready and everything was packed. 30 minutes into the 3 hour journey to Cumbria Vag the gear box decided to go, either that or the clutch release bearing. However after towing the car home ( car refused to drive ) managed to get our spirits enough to head on down in my friends car. After a poor start must say what a weekend, can't wait until next year!!

Looks bang on, especially the 3rd photo down <3

I liked the steffans in silver mate, I know the themes black and purple, should of just kept the purple steels aswell as steffans for winter etc and to keep the theme.. that's just my opinion though but still very nice job you've done with engine bay and everything! :)

Thanks bud :P Miss the steel wheels far to much and got rid of them far to cheap as well. The steffans where chewed up around the edges from me being a fanny and running a bar round them while taking off wheel bolts the week before edition :/ And didn't want to go to Edition with them in a state. Had some purple paint left over from when i done my cage and air tank so sprayed them last minute. Fucked up big time on the clear coat with mad runs as the light in my garage isn't the best lol

Haven't had a chance to update this in a while but here a photo off the inside and a few i took at edition. If you see any photos of this let me know :P

Feel the inside lets the car down so thinking next year back seats need to go back in and a new plan of action need to be taken. Any thoughts?

Finally got some photos for you.

First of all i got some metal L brackets, like the ones you would use to build cupboards etc. Can buy a pack of like 10 from B&Q i think.

Lift the centre console from the back so the you can get into the hand brake. There are 3 bolt that sit in a good position to mount the L brackets. (Might have to drill the holes in the L brackets slightly bigger).

Thinking of what to do next year in terms of Engines and smooth bays. Quite fancy running something on bike carbs and really want to stay away from doing a 1.8 20v conversion as I'm not to keen on how they look in a polo bay and I'm not one for driving fast anyway :pardon: . First thought was an AFH 1.4 16v 100HP from 6n as when they are polished up they look pretty neat. But then i think would i be wasting my time as i could just do a AUB engine swap. Anyone got any ideas on something that would look good in a polo bay possibly on bike carbs, Webber's etc.. and not too back breaking to do? :D
