Honestly lad the buffers from halfords aren't worth a fart, you'd be best going onto cleancar.ie, I got a rotary buffer from them and it's the best thing I've ever bought, serious job, I would highly

  • god knows how you'd break the speaker grill, they're quite tough! That window switch is in good condition especially if it works, you'll find out what I mean when the windows stick open when it snows

  • Welcome along Tidy base, older cars will always have few wear and tear bits that need doing but if it's good otherwise I wouldn't worry too much just do them as you go along

What are the rear tyre specs?

  • Author

Rears are Nankang NS-2's , 185/45/15 :D

Thanks

She looks well lad, even the standard splitter is a hoor to fit I needed a hot air gun and 4 hands when doing mine,

Our regs are spookily similar haha.

Cheers man ! , yeah its a bitch alright, expected for it just to pop right on .. couldn't of been more wrong

Yeah they are aren't they :retard: ! Had a look at your build there .. shes tidy man ! , You do all the smoothing and spraying yourself ?

Another small update,,

These babies arrived on Friday evening  although only the rear set arrived, I should hopefully be getting the fronts tomorrow or Tuesday ! :D

IMG_20140119_181658_zps9eurqy2m.jpg

I was kind of iffy about the rears, was afraid that 20mm might of been a bit too much to push them out, didn't want them too look silly :? . So once I got them I just had to stick them on to see how they looked.

So with the car jacked up and wheels off, I copper greased the balls of everythangg and slapped on the spacers , the extended bolts i'd been using for the BBS were too long for the spacers so I had to revert back to the gammy half-rung original bolts :sorry:

So here's how she sits on the rear now .. A great improvement if you ask me, I think 20 mm was literally perfect, was exactly what I was looking for !

So once the spacers for the fronts arrive and I get them fitted i'm gonna get all four arches rolled as shes already scrubbing like a bad yoke on the rears !

Will get a pic up of the fronts if the spacers arrive tomorrow ! :D

Thanks

Thanks! Yeah all the body work was done by the aul fella, turned out ok for a hack job in a dusty garage.

Is there much rubbing with the spacers on the back?

Fair play to yer aul' fella ! I was considering doing it myself, but it is an awfully big job to take on .. but it could be done sometime down the road :spiteful:

Yeah man at the moment its a nightmare haha , cant have anyone in the back and even with just me shes scrubbin' on every corner and every microfuckingscopic bump in the road

Just have to get my arches rolled asap , or my tires will be eaten to shreds !

So I haven't gotten much done with the car in the past week. Weathers been too bad to even step foot outside, these are the times when I really wish I had a garage to work on the car in :sorry:

But yeah, spacers still haven't arrived yet either, hoping they'll come sometime this week although until I get some sort of work done on the arches, I wont be able to run them.

While on the topic of arches, traveled 200 km across the country to get them rolled and flared last Saturday, only to be met by 'naah we don't flare arches, and rolling thems not gonna work mate'. Needless to say I wasn't very fucking happy. Even after pleading with them to just go at it as much as was possible as I might be able to put smaller tires and some camber on the rears to get a bit of clearance, they still persisted with 'naah its still not gonna work mate'.

They then gave me a quote of €1200 to get the arches cut, pulled, welded and painted .. but fuck that like.. So €60 poorer I fucked off home.

If anybody would know anywhere or anyone in Ireland that would flare arches it would be a great help :D !!

Also my exhaust decided to give up completely so thats another nice pain in the bank account.

Will hopefully update soon with better news and a few snaps if the weather allows :spiteful:

We'll my mate has a arch roller I in kildare tho but I say do it you are self man iv seen boys do it with a few magazines on top one and other and Jack d car up heat up arch with heat gun or you are mamys hair dryer put the mags on top wheel slowly let the car down on top of the mags and it should roll them that's the way if u want to be all nice about it and hopefully not crack the paint at the lip the other way which is better is to Jack car get a bar put between arch and tyre lower car back down u can either roll d bar by had like twist it bringin it all d way round you are arch or roll you are car with it in there bigger bar more flair but as I said wen u roll archs more then likely the paint will flake on the edge it even does it usein a arch roller go on YouTube to see the methods to do it and it all depends how much off a roll u need most people jus need to get rid of the little lip on inside arch but look like u need to be rolled a bit hope helps lad

Cheers for the advice lad ! Yeah, i'm half tempted to get myself a roller and try the magazine trick for the rears .. but will have to be cautious about it if I do decide to go down that road. Know anyone who has done it with a polo ? For the time being i'm just going to run her without the spacers, just need a bit more time to think about the whole situation

Yeah EastCoast was the crowd I went to  . I'd been to them before and got arches rolled, but when I pulled up and explained to them that I wanted to try to run the rears with 20mm spacers they looked at me as if I was fuck retarded  . I assumed that they'd be able to roll the arches and hopefully flare the lip slightly with the roller, just enough so that with a bit of camber and 165s instead of 185s, I might get a bit of clearance .. but no .. they claimed it wasn't possible to flare the lip of the arch with the roller ... :disgust:

Anyway I was looking for something like this .. http://forum.cleaned.be/index.php?showtopic=48531

If anyone else has suggestions or comments i'd be happy to hear them :D !!

Yeah I was lad, took the spin up last Saturday  Bit of a pointless 360km drive since they could do nothing with the arches, but fuckit ... was a nice change of scenery

Let me know how you get on man ! yeah the flare in the link is pretty mad, but if i want any sort of clearance with the spacers on its what i'm gonna have to aim for  Cheers for the offer lad  ! Yeah I am indeed , what about yourself ?

Ye I b going hope to get nct t bring mine tho ha ha only got immobilizer fix last week so maybe she will b there ha and a bar would flair them like tat but u would need paint if you are doin them ta much tho if I was u I'd go wi a ten mil spacer on back or if you really want 20 fuck loads of camber about 3 washers haha

well fuck ye I live in ardee :L they've rolled arches for a lot of the lads?

The vibrating noise from the 6x9 is probably because the subwoofer's blown it.

Nota bad wee place  , yeah they've rolled arches for me too in the past, but they said it was pointless because I was trying to run the spacers. Just told me id be better off getting work done on the arches.

The vibrating noise from the 6x9 is probably because the subwoofer's blown it.

It was actually because I had wired the speakers up a wee bit wrong, mind you I got all the hard bits right, but mixed up the positive and negative speaker wire from the amp to one of the speakers which caused the vibrating noise

Okay , so basicly i've had litlle to no time atall to work on the car lately due to the weather, wet, windy and cold .. all day .. everyday .. -_-

Shes in bad need of some TLC

IMG_20140201_151930_zps1afsramv.jpg

I've also decided against running the spacers as it is just too much hastle and am just going to aim for more lows :D So if anyones interested in buying them PM me :spiteful: , they will be going up in the for sale section soon enough anyway.

Tried logging in to clubpolo the other day on one of the computers in my college, and was met with this ..
