I thought you might like to see my Polo c, its only the1lt -but I love it because its in such beatiful condition, and, I hope to keep it that way. One family before me and just 33K is what I love about it, its a real time warp. Never buffed or repainted it is I think you will agree pretty good for a 29 year old car.

I am asking elsewhere if anyone knows where I could get a brand new set of the 5 slot 13" steel wheels ( do VW have any?) and p[lastic caps all round too, as these are the only things that let the car down. Obviously, in the early eighties wheel paint was pretty poorely applied, but then the rest is just fine. I could clean up and re-spray the originals I realise but it would make it special to be 100%

Normally I drive MK2 Golfs... Its a bit of a mania as I have 4 Mk2 Gti's!! their all different including a couple of std ones, a TSR 'hot one' and a great Turbo Diesel Mk2.

The Polo?It is certainly more slow lane, but why not! it has characture written all over it and I love it

yes I enjoy it, its tiny compared to modern 'small' cars and certainly gets the looks.Have managed to get new VW original wheels and so will be even better soon.

Hope to go to some meets, are there any fellow Polo fanatics in Norfolk or near?

Golf bit sorry...[Yes, the TSR Golf is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing!!, lightly lowered, alloys, big brakes but in a perfectly standard Helios Blue body in ace condition. Had the TSR 8v built 5 years ago by TSR to Brands Hatch spec, i.e Passat crank 1.9lt and so sweet... It goes well for an 8v.]

How do you find the tsr engine?

I've got a TSR built engine in my Mk1, had a top end rebuild in 2004 with a big valve head ect.

Goes like the clappers!

It behaves more like a 16v than an 8v I think. Still got some good low end torque but loves to rev too!

Yes, its a fantastic motor, fully built by Tom (thanks Tom) and its just as you say, torque with the go of the 16v too. As said its the 2lt stroked #Brands Hatch # motor one with C pack big valve head,285H Piper cam. Its smooth, fluid and powerfull. I expect its ace in the Mk1 as unlike other engines its not heavier.

I am new to Polo's and its so different to the Golf! -yet so characterful and tiny! that I love it. Had a cop car tail me on the first run... as its only 1lt he eventually got bored and went past, ha ha if it was the Golf I would have been booting it..

Have now a name for the Polo, its called TONKA.

Iplan to do a bit of paintwork, and thats it as it really is near perfect.

You have a bike too? I ride a 2005 Speed triple 1050 which is brilliant too.

My brother had a mk1 golf gti with a tsr - Donnington engine. It was an absolute hoot to drive.

Mines a 2l bottom end with a Piper 282,pack c head, exhaust ect.

What fuel system are you running? Mines on the digifant, been thinking about changing to carbs.

It's certainly fast I'll give you that! Although it's on a KR box, running 13" wheels, so I could do with changing to 15's to improve the gearing, bought some 16" d90s for it but fitted them and don't like the look

Breadvans are tiny you're right! But still uber practical and bet you wallets healthier too running a 1.0!

And yeah, my little DTR puts a smile on my face too :)

Too cold to ride at the minute though!!

I'd love a bigger bike but it's ridicules licences that put me off. I'd love a FZR600 but I can't ride one on an a2 I don't think... Either that or a XV535 bobber.

Hi dude, thanks for chat. Yes Digifant -but tweaked by TSR, needs a dyno run to be 100% though.I am not a big fan of bike carbs as I used to race bikes and I know how PERFECTLY they have to be set up to work well. Its easy to assume a R1 or other 'just bolt on and go' but it does need someone with knowledge to set up or it can be all induction noise and no go! or worse bore wash as its too rich. If done properly it can be a blast. Digi though gives a more sophisticated setup, I think.

What revs are you doing at what speed as gearing with those little wheels will be for fast excelleration but the choice is yours. Id prefer to have it a missile at the expense of a bit of top whack.

Polo stays standard as its only on 33k and is pretty rare. Going to make it perfect then try and win something as never have yet!

Yep, my bike is in the shed, salty slippery roads don't do for me any longer. Off to France in June of Triumph so plenty of fun then!!!
