Featured Replies

Here for sale is my mk2 mx5. I have owned this since June last year an have enjoyed having it and have spent a good deal on it.

Mot till - 20/06/2014

Tax till - 31/06/2014

So it is a 1998 mk2 mx5 1.6 UK spec petrol 5 spd manual 2 seat convertible. It is a base model with no A/C or electric windows.
It does have high miles at 210000 however it has a thick folder full of history such as gearbox rebuild, cambelts etc. In November it had diff and engine oil change as well as a coolant change. This car spent a lot of its early life on the motorway and the owner gave it anything it needed. I now use it as my daily, however I am doing more miles now and need to sell for a diesel. I am not looking for PX swap as I already have another car. This is a sale only listing.
So the body:
The body does have stone chips etc. It is nearly perfectly straight except a small dint on the passenger rear arch. There is no rust or rot and it is solid, the sills and part of the rear drivers arch have replaced and are solid. However the paint match is not the best. There is a 50 pence piece of paint missing again on the passenger rear arch, this is from a power washer. Unfortunately it was set too powerful. Overall the body is very straight and just a few things letting it down, however that is one reason why the price is what it is.
Engine and running gear:
The engine runs great, as said I use it daily and it never fails to start and get going. The oil pressure and the coolant temps are dead on what they should be even in heavy traffic. I replaced the battery a few weeks ago for a brand new one which comes with 4 Yrs Guarantee. I had the exhaust replaced from Cat back in September. This included a stainless straight pipe through to a RS back box. It is no more noisy than standard it gives a nice rasp. You can not hear it at all inside the cabin. It had a gear box rebuild in 2008 and cambelts etc since.
Interior and hood:
Interior is ok. The drivers seat has wear in the fabric on the top bolster however still supportive and comfy. The center console seems to have been modified to hold a speaker in center. It gives good sound but not the cleanest of looks. Also the lid is missing. The steering wheel rubber has come loose and can twist. All of these things are cheap things to sort and do not affect the way this car drives at all. The hood is ok, it needs a clean and treated. It has a small pin hole on each side of the hood and the usual cracks around where bends are. I have not had any water ingress into the cabin in the recent heavy rain weather. There is no stereo in the car as the original Clarion one broke, I have been using a friends but as it is not mine it is not included.
Overall:
This is a great daily car, or set it up for track and drift. I use it daily but i need something different now which I have bought. I just need to make room and sell this. I have set the price to sell, please do not come at me with stupid offers. It has long tax and mot and is ready to just drive away.
I am located in Coventry West Midlands, you can contact me on here or via mobile at zero 77 four 56 five 00 eight 87
