Aircon on Polo 1.9 TDI

Featured Replies

Hi from Salisbury.

I own a 2004 1.9 TDI Sport (100PS) and some time ago the aircon packed up, due to a leak from the joint between the two parts of the pipe, just behind the radiator. These are items 6 and 7 on the diagram, the failed joint is arrowed. I have removed (6), having had to destroy the joint to get it apart.

However I cannot see an easy way of removing (7) without taking out the engine - has anyone done this if so please pass on.

These pipes are horrendously expensive, and the cheapest I have found is £295 for both pipes from TPS at Southampton - would rather manage to get the old one out before attempting to put in a new one.

I have already obtained the correct specification flexible aircon hose (from China) with which to make a repair - but have had no luck in finding a company that can do the high pressure joint work.

Thanks Richard

PS Dangerous Brake fault: This may already be known elsewhere, however I will post a tip on fixing a rather dangerous intermittent brake fault, which had me foxed for ages!!
