Just bought a mk2f 94' polo Alpine white for a sum of £391

My background in motorcycles hopefully might give me a bit of an

understanding of the fundamentals of these four wheeled contraptions

With my CG125 Café racer being sold tomorrow I'm gonna have some money for springs and various bits and bobs, speakers, sub etc.

Having done a few little mods to it so far, de-bump stripped, tinted the standard lights GT style (too budget to buy new lights )

Fitted a speaker to the parcel shelf and now plan on spraying rear door cards, carpeting the boot, new rear seats maybe if I can pick some up cheap enough.

Seat covers will have to do for now in the front until I find a decent set of either buckets or leathers from a GTI or a pug maybe!

Also need to repair some body work when the weather will allow me!

Got a sunroof fitted as well! Bonus!!!

Sunroofs can be a bad thing when they start leaking!

Also what did you tint your rear lights with? I'm a bit too tight to buy actual g40 lights too.

Just eBay's finest spray on tint! A whopping £3.85

Was a little cautious with it at first but just masked up the lights and surrounding areas, layered it on and it came out pretty well imo! :)

Springs are next on the list!

What's wrong with the bodywork? It looks okay from pics.

Be careful which springs you buy, the cheapo ones give an awful ride quality.

How bad is the ride quality?

I've not got much to put into springs so the cheapest I can drop it for the better really

They're £120 if you buy them from the ta technix website.

The kit is good just the ride quality isn't, rattles your bones!

Ah maybe later buy some more 'comfortable' springs, maybe an eibach spring kit or something?

Guess that a set of 185/65/15 bbs ra's wouldn't fit on the car at standard height would they?

I have 14" bbs RA's on mine with 185/60 tyres and I had to roll the arches otherwise it scrubbed on bumps, but it's lowered a little at the back.

Well I wanna get a set of wheels before I go buying springs! how did 14" RA's sit on yours, I wanna drop it 60-40 but don't know how bad it'll be on 14,s ?

The tyres I have on mine are way too big, it looks silly.

But they look great with 165/60s and won't scrub at all at 60/40.

Got hold of a set of 14" RA reps, got the back two on now just need to pump up the front near side and it'll all be good!

Might go gloss black haven't decided yet though!

Ned to drill out the centre cap threads to tap a thread into and get them sorted, stripped the back out, sprayed the door cards and going to find some carpet for the boot and maybe carpet the boot!

its coming along slowly then will be lows next, get a decent set of springs and shocks!

Right the tyres on mine are 185/60/14, going to roll the arches anyway and with the ground clearance much better do you think id get away with a 80/60 drop with the tyres if i roll the arches? its sitting pretty high at the moment :(

Right so my friends got an arch roller, would I be able to go 80/60 on this with the current tyres and roll arches?

Need some advice as i'm going to order springs and shocks soon as really!

Little update cleaned the engine bay and painted a few pieces on the car, needs some lows still!

tyres will no doubt be too big for an 80/60 drop, get some nicer tyres

What about 60/60 got springs sitting indoors!

rear 6n coilovers

cheery bomb i cut up and made into an up-swept 2.5"

rear seat delete in tartan

boot floor in oak wooden boards

sub wired in

mamba buckets fitted

omp wheel and boss fitted

mk3 golf intake with ramair filter

joey modded and fly eyed front lights

numerous body repairs some of which done today in between bouts of rainy showers!

wrapped door handles and window winders in tartan fabric

rear wiper delete

mk3 rear exhaust hanger

cut front springs even more

will upload pictures too for anyone that's remotely interested in the car!

Cheers dude! need to get some more pictures up here, badly need coilovers for the front now as the shocks are knocking like crazy after cutting the springs so much on standard dampers haha

Yeah was gunna say your pics on insta are much better lol and yeah ta technix sell fronts alone I think. Dead cheap for coilies too

Few more pictures as promised! wheels are now black as in the last picture when i was reversing off the driveway and the rear wheel disappeared into the arch making it look awesome!

Need to take a few more with the new rear wheels but the front needs to come down drastically!

Good work Tom. Got any pics of the interior? I like the sound of the buckets and tartan rear section.

Also, what are the mirrors you have fitted?
