hungry for more power

Featured Replies

Hi guys :) I'm from Malta and this is my first post ever on this site. i own a vw polo 6n2 1.4MPI 8v 60hp engine... not quite satisfied with the hp :/ i bought the car from her owner a couple of months ago... installed a catback exhaust (sounds great now!! take a look:

)... installed a set of 15" wheels on it.. and soon i will be removing the engine top cover in order to install a cone filter... lately i was thinking about maybe skimming the cylinder head to gain some more hp... what do you guys think about that?

anyways :) glad to be part of this club!

looking forward for your replies and maybe some suggestions about how am i going to increase my baby's hp ;)

This is a 1.4 8v the block is abd the head is mk2f polo gt was rollered a few weeks back and made 105bhp while down on compression on two cylinders. 40bhp improvement from standard. I rebuilt it soon

Buy a golf gti mark3/4 would be the cheapest way to gain more HP. 1.4 60hp engines are a dead end for tuning.

yeah well this is my current ride for now... i want to make the best of it... but i guess with a bit of tuning i will gain some more hp.. and here in malta cars are still expensive... even for my car which is a 2001 model i paid 3600 euros which is a fair amount here.. for a golf mk 4 you need at least 5500/6000 euros for the 1999 model :/

thanks for your reply though

Hello and welcome.

Jesus just under £5000 for a mk4 golf!

You could get one for 10% of that here

As for bhp gain on a 1.4 8v, No idea!
