Buying new alloys

Featured Replies

That chart I posted are the wheel/tyre sizes it would of left the factory with, so either you have miss read the sticker or unlikely the sticker is wrong, but it would definitely not been fitted with 17" from the factory!!

No 6n's came out of the factory with 17's

And 18" tyres would never bead on 17's

Thanks guys but I really don't think I've misread the sticker, please check the image link above and let me know if I have though!

It's obviously a duff decode !! if you look in the original posting "De-Code your optional extras" Dean had the same "C1R, H4X" codes

Take it from us NO 6N1 ever left the factory with 17" wheels fitted with 18" tyres!!! The German TUV would have gone into meltdown!!

Yeah sticker must be wrong.

It is physically impossible to fit a 18" tyre to a 17" wheel.... end of.

And no 6n ever came out the factory with 17" wheels (there wasn't even a optional extra for 17s)

Hi Nige/Matt, I totally trust you guys and the evidence, just wasn't sure what was going on, if I was being totally stupid, it wouldn't be the first time...

I googled it again and found some results from 2011 where people had the same problem only their H4X code was correct, just had to figure out if C1R was used more than once as well and... it was.

There's a pdf on vag-codes.info that listed everything and as a result I believe the correct description for mine when it left the factory was:

C1R - Alloy wheels 5.5J x 13 / Offset 43

H4X - Tyres 175/65 R13 T

I think that's that little mystery solved. Though why they would use the same codes more than once, I have no idea.

Thanks everyone :)
