04 Seat Arosa Sport (price drop to £550)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I need to sell my Seat Arosa Sport as i've just purchased a new car, i'll be totally honest about the car and try and list everything about it that i can think of. I could have used this as a part exchange although I thought I would get a little bit more for it privately and I would much rather see it go to someone who would enjoy it as a project car for example.

Seat Arosa Sport 1.4 16v

Tax until November 30th 2014 although thats kind of irrelevant with the car tax situation changing.
MOT until May 30th 2015
Mileage - 83600

No real service history other than a service sheet when the car had its cam belt changed, this was not the previous owner but the owner before that and it was done only down the road from me at my local seat garage where i've ironically bought my new car.

It does however have every MOT which proves the mileage. The car was owned by a mechanic before me so he did the service himself too. I think i have receipt for the windscreen as it was replaced by them too... i think.

The car was lowered by the previous owner, its 40mm which isn't a lot, it doesn't do too much to the comfort of the car either which is nice, from what i remember he said they were Koni Springs and the rest was replaced with Lupo GTI parts.

I bought the car 3 years ago and other than servicing which i have done with the help of my Mums other half (a mechanic with 40 years plus experience) the car has been pretty much faultless until the last couple of months.

The only things to date that i have replaced until this point was a wiper arm and brake light switch. I fitted new rear brake pads and discs in april!

So the list of what I think needs to be done:

A couple of days before the MOT in May the engine management light came on, plugged it in, it said it was the egr valve. We took the old one out and tried cleaning it with no joy and then decided to get a new one which off the top of my head cost 180 pounds. This worked fine for the MOT and two weeks later the light came back on. We plugged it in again and the only thing we can think it is, is that the adaption settings need to be changed which we couldn't do with the equipment we had, this is an easy fix if you have a Vag diagnostics setup of some kind. The car before the erg valve was replaced ran fine with the odd day where it would choke a bit in traffic, this only happened rarely and hasn't happened since the egr valve was replaced. So the light is still on.

Of course you can see the dent in the door!!! This was about a year ago, I was parked up at a friends house and came out to my car and saw it. No one had seen anyone do it as it was a residential road with no cctv etc, really annoying as was obviously not my fault. The dent is on the door only and doesn't continue on the drivers wing or rear quarter, again not too difficult a fix if you can find a door in black.

2 new front Tires would need to be sorted along with the tracking, the car failed its last MOT on lower suspension ball joints which i got fixed by the mot centre for around 200 pounds i think, although i'm pretty sure the tracking is out as the tires were fine both sides but have rapidly worn on the outside edge. They are just about legal as the wear doesn't cover a 1/4 of the tire but obviously i wouldn't advise driving for long with them as they are.

There is a clicking on full lock, i can only imagine this is the cv Joints.

Abs light has been known to flicker on and off every now and then, there is a rubbing sound which i'm pretty sure is the front brake pads, I have a set of front brake pads which obviously can go with the car.

I have a feeling the clutch will need to be replaced sometime in the next 8-12 months, its not slipping although the biting point is quite high.

The is one slat of the front grill missing which i have and could probably be glued back on.

The remote central locking blipper majig doesn't work but the key in the door does activate the central locking without a problem.

I think thats all i can think of, I'm not kidding myself as to the condition of the car hense why i'll be as honest as i can about it. It would make a nice project car for someone as they are good fun little cars to drive, I had a Mk3 Polo before this and it was a good, newer replacement for it to be fair.

I'm based in Hersham, Surrey.

My new car will hopefully be ready in about 10 days so, i wouldn't want to get rid of this until i get my new one so i thought i would see if anyone is interested now.

Price wise, i'd like to see 550 pounds but please by all means make me an offer. We buy any car offered me around this price and I would rather see it stripped out and made into a track car than them have it!!!

Heres some pictures, no its not uber clean! If there is anything i may have missed please get in contact with me although it might be quicker to email me at georgeheatley@hotmail.com
