Its why you should always mark it up beforehand

I wish i had i normally do just was rushing and thought they were both on keyways in but obvs not :/ HELPPPP

There is a special tool for setting the cam, the same question was asked a few weeks ago, the tool is VW part no T10075 so if you do a search on here for that part number it should give you the link

Sweet thanks mate :)

No one loaned me the tool or helped me find one so i will help you out. Use a 1/4 drive (small socked one) extention bar or the timing tools to set the cam sprocked. You will see the holes in the cover. Where the coil pack bolts on remove that plate. You will see your cam with two keyways and a dot/hole. Turn the dot/hole to the hole thats in the middle of the vertical slit on the right hand side of the cover. You will need to do the bolt up tight enough to turn the cam clockwise till it locks. If it goes past this mark slacken it off and adjust and tighten. Its a ball ache to do without the tool but doable.

The other way around it is how i did it. Bolt up cam pully. Turn cam to marks on the rear setting end as i described. Use tippexon your cam pully and back case. Set exhaust with pin. These are your new timing marks.

I dont know how to upload videos or pics otherwise i would.

In the other posting regarding this tool I did put up a site that sells this tool www.dieselkontor.de listed @ 64 €uros

I've just had rocker powdercoated right game... anyway I'm getting the tool of my mate at vw il take some pics and do some drawings and post them up probs next week

anyone know how tight you have to do the vvt cam pulley bolt up ?

Sam

New bolts and washers to be used!

Exhaust cam sprocket 20Nm then +90 deg

Central bolt on camshaft adjuster (left hand thread) 40Nm then + 90 deg

You should use new bolts and washers. In the manual it says fit and tighten then check. If its not lighened up slacken bolt and adjust and recheck. I'm not sugesting you reuse the bolts and washers but i did and mine was ok. The washer and bolt were in good condition on mine.
