6N Front Fog lights

Featured Replies

First off, I'm new to these forums, so please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong area, or point me in the right direction :)

I'm wanting to put some front fog lights in, like this, but my front bumper, grill is like this (this is not my car btw). So I was wondering has anyone fitted some fog lights to this configuration, or if there are any tweaks that can be done to fit some in. I'm not keen on changing the bumper to the first type (trying to find the same colour, or having it resprayed and the expense of doing this). I'm hoping for a quick way of fitting some in, but haven't had much luck researching if this is possible, so far.

Thanks! :)

  • I think this looks better than the 16v bumpers to be honest! Thanks for the info dude!

VW actually made fog lights to fit your bumper configuration. It was an option that isn't seen too often (maybe not very popular).

The lights themselves are screwed to the black plastic front panel behind the bumper valance.

Obviously, you'll be looking for the lights themselves, a fog light enabled headlight switch, a slightly different wiring loom on the front panel, which plugs into the main engine loom and a different bumper valance grille.

All of those parts can be had second hand. The loom and switch should be readily available, the lights and grille may take a little more searching.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, I've done a little searching and have found a picture of the configuration with fog lights. As you predicted it's somewhat harder to find the grille to buy. If I'm sucessful I'll post back here with the results.

Thanks again for the reply :)

Not bad, I have this front bumper section and was thinking about fog lights.

Easy to fit?

Yeah the fitting is easy.

I unclipped the plastic grill, which exposes 5 screws the hold the bottom section to the bumper. There are also two screws that hold the plastic for the wheel arch to the front bumper that you'll need to undo. Four (or five) plastic plugs hold a bit of plastic from the bottom section to some plastic below the radiator (these couldn't be taken out without destroying them, so they were replaced with bolts.)

With the lower section off you will see the fixture for the fog lights already there. 3 x M5 (by 16mm long) bolts per light fix it to the fixture. You can then replace the bottom section of the bumper and clip in the new grille. You may need to adjust the position of the fog lights so they push through the gap in the grille.

My car didn't have any wiring for the fog lights so you'll need to sort that out yourself if yours is the same.

Might take this on at some point, if only for the learning experience.

How much did the parts set you back, if you dont mind me asking?

I got the two fog lights from GSF at around £30 each and the grille from TPS for about £30 again. It's not a very common configuration as people tend to install the sports bumper if they want fog lights, so it's not cheap. I had a load of wiring and bolts already but if you don't that'll add a few extra quid too.

would the foglights off a polo classic ,you know the polo with a boot , not be a direct fit?

The simple answer is, I don't know, sorry.

The classic fogs are a totally different part number
