new to the forum - mk2 breadvan

Featured Replies

hi everyone I'm new to the forum. I bought my 1043cc 4 speed 89 breadvan a few months ago for my first car/project it had no mot and was very badly spray painted and had a few problems including the lights not working. managed to remove the majority of the blue/black spray paint with lots of thinners to get the car back to its original white. this was much better but still pretty rough. also replaced all the bulb carriers and bulbs and hazard warning switch (which was missing) which got all the lights working. I replaced the carb flange which was split so the car no longer struggled to start and replaced the thermo switch so that the fan kicked in when it should. the car passed its mot with an advisory for front to rear brake pipe I will hopefully be sorting out at some point. the car was lowered when I bought it although I don't know how much by and the standard springs and shocks were in the boot. I ended up putting the standard springs and shocks back on the rear to make way for the 13x6 bmw wheels I bought and resprayed for it (with new tyres all round as they needed replacing anyway). at the moment I need to either replace or get reconditioned my gearbox as it drones loudly and leaks oil. also I'm tempted by a respray as the paint is still rough with quite a few rust spots. there are more little problems to deal with too such as the rear tailgate latch which wont open from the key etc.. overall I'm happy with my bready and look forward to improving it more. here is when I bought it and how it stands now. thanks for reading :). Dan
