Yeah I was so glad that I got the drums in the end. The others were quite worn and a tad oval.

I was in two mind about whether to paint them or not but I was just too desperate to get them on! I was going to just laquer them and see how they held up.

However, red drums add 2bhp.

I'be had a wee go at machine polishing the roof, bonnet and boot using some 3M products and I'm very happy with the results.

The polish has really helped the car but the paint work leaves a lot to be desired. Really it needs a respray but this will do for just now.

Wow looks clean, do you work for ford? I did my aprentaship with them fun times.....

I did once sell cars at a Ford dealership but just now I'm a lecturer at a college. I was lucky enough to serve my apprenticeship with Land Rover. They look after their apprentices.

It's pretty good here. Sometimes the students help out with the car which is handy. It's just nice to have a tidy warm workshop to work in.

Very nice, how old are you if you don't mind me asking, I've been considering that line of work for a while, but I'm only 21 so I wanna be abit older than the students 😂 I thought it might have been a dealership as the workshop looked very clean 👍 abit too clean haha

I'm 30 years old. I only landed the job in August last year. I applied for the job thinking that I wouldn't have a chance because I wasn't a master tech and I didn't have 25 years of experience behind me. It turns out that having the ability to communicate well with people and having the right attitude is just as important as your experience. Surprisingly I was picked over two other lecturers (and other applicants from industry) who applied for the position so if you see an opening then go for it.

If it wasn't for my wife looking for a job in lecturing then I would never have even known about it!

I do have three students who are the same age as me but to be honest I quite like that. They are mature and usually stick in at their studying. A couple of years ago there was a student here who was 43 so don't let the students being older than you put you off!

If anyone else would like free and impartial careers advice I will have a drop in centre at the Polo Social. The centre will look just like some tents arranged in a circle with a barbeque in the middle. It will be manned at all times by myself, my good colleage Jack Daniels and other gentlemen with scottish accents. All are welcome to join in with the terrible banter and shoddy advice.*

Ha ha, nothing like playing to the stereotypical vision of Scotland, eh Steven? Ha ha.

A small update here. The car does not like being warm. If you start it up from cold it will run perfectly, and idle beautiful. However, turn it off and started it up again and it's idle is all over the place until it cuts out 20 seconds later. If I disconnect the brand new lambda I've fitted, it still idles lumpy but doesn't cut out.

I carried out an emission test on the car when it was running great after being started from cold. The results are so clean that I may have solved global warming:

Then I tried it with the lambda sensor disconnected after I had turned it off and on again:

It's still well within passing the emissions. At least I know I can MOT it. Pity it just won't idle!

Today I gave the wheels a small tidy up. I bought some BBS stickers off of ebay for the centre caps and I bought some wheel bolt covers that seem to be splitting opinions.

Here are the before and afters:

Just don't look to closely at the paint ha ha! It's a lesson in why you should always wash your car regularly.

Thats very true. However, I doubt there will be many other cars there with bird dropping shaped rust marks!

I'm hoping to have the car MOT'd this week so tonight I'm preparing the battery tray area and fixing a leaking bead on one of the tyres. Fingers crossed!

I'm surprised mine doesn't to be fair. I live on the most seagull heavy road in the local area, as we're so close to the docks and beaches. Whenever I go to work I seem to get pelted there as well. I think they must like my car!

I've done a bit of work for the cars MOT and a little bit of cosmetic touches.

First I sorted out the leaking bead on one of the wheels using the plumbers gas leak detection spray:

It's pretty obvious where the leaks are so I just marked the areas with chalk, whipped off the tyre, rubbed down any corrosion and sealed the tyre with bead sealer.

I then had some stickers arrive from Germany for the rear badge. They didn't fit that great but after a trim down they looked a lot better.

I then got stuck into the nitty gritty:

I'll get some underseal on it today and then get started on the battery tray. I need an MOT!!

Well it failed it's MOT because I optimistically put in 10 litres of fuel before the MOT, only to find the tank was leaking.

Today is not a good day.
