hello, been on this forum for over a year now and it has helped me/saved me multiple times!

i picked up my first car just a 2 weeks before i turned 17 to learn to drive in back in February 2014, for just £550 off eBay won me my wonderful little 1999 Polo 6N 1.4 CL Openair, in indigo blue.

The good points:

Sunroof worked well

low mileage for age at 75K miles

interior in really good condition

good 14" 16V wheels with good tires

The bad points:

Laquer Peel!!!!!

Dent to rear bumper

some awful GTI badges lol

but none the less, i figured i would take my time on this build, seeing as I've had it for nearly 14 months and I'm only just getting round to the bulk of the work! let me know what you think... (but don't be mean) - i have attached pictures of the car when i first got it.

Passed my driving test on the 30th April 2014, first time with 1 minor, 4 days later... CRASH! not my fault thankfully! driven into the back of at a junction, what a way to start driving! anyway, through the other person's insurance i managed to secure some tasty 16V bumpers (front and back), which i fitted myself! so really, i guess i benefitted from my accident, still abit embarrassing that i only lasted 4 days after my test! also note the new clear indicators.

January 2015, full valet and new boot spoiler i got for christmas and she looks perdy!! what to do next, can't stop here..

Some one crashed into my friend 2 hours after he passed his test! They ran a red light and crashed into the side of him! He was driving a polo as well

The bumpers and boot spoiler looks nice! You do need to remove those GTI badges though.

March 2015: Lowered on Coilovers, new uprated break calipers, new brembo brake discs and pads, 4 new wheel bearings, K&N air filter, full service.

And may as well get it resprayed whilst I'm at it.

and for those who want a hint on the colour, here is a big clue..

Best get on detailing world and look into how to stop it getting covered in swirls and scratches when you clean it.

Not a crash, but I broke down 4 days after passing my test. Aux belt tensioner shot itself out of its housing and left me stuck in the middle of nowhere at midnight on a Sunday!

Got her home at long last! looking swish! also did the interior this morning, just to make the car even more personal! i love it!

total cost of build is about £1500 - that includes purchase, LPG Conversion, Respray, 16V bodykit and rear spoiler and Misc Parts.

Damn that interior carpet is sexy. How did you do it?

i did the carpet by cutting out the carpet that was visual, then cut the car mat out to the shape, with a bit extra around the edge, the using spray adhesive, i just stuck it down, then tucked it under the plastic trim to make it look neat, took a few hours, but it looks smart and i didn't have to pull out the entire interior!

Its so comical, i love it.

i paid £750 for the respray which wasn't bad? that included removing the dents and filling scuffs and all sorts, carpets cost next to nothing, and is a unique install, i just used the old carpet as a stencil and cut out the shapes, then stuck it down using spray adhesive. and it looks insane!

Here is how she looks now! i raised it up bait on the adjustable coilys to improve the ride a touch, i now also own a 2005 POLO 9N 1.9 TDI GT, which is beautiful!

Damn where was it painted at? Just both sides of my bready was 700 and need to fork another 300 for bonnet and boot

Yeah I'm wanting a harlekin golf project when funds allow but that may have to be after the polo is gone
