Can't see much of the underside though but it needs a boot floor & I think a rear axle.

It's quite handy as a storage space tbh. Holds 4 wheels, a gearbox, a dash, arch trims, pancake filter, and a whole bunch of other stuff, and would still be driveable

that damage is bad, honest advice vio strip it re/shell it. you will have a cleaner rust free/ damage free polo too

does the garage have any pulling equipment ? its not just a matter of finding the obselete panels and welding them on , first you have to strap the car down and pull that damage back out , for lesser damage folk have chained it to a tree and drove off to pull it out but yours needs more than that

They used some pulling equipment on a couple of episodes of Fast 'n Loud on a Ferrari F40.

That equipment is insane.

I wouldn't mind driving a dolly! The misses hasn't put out in ages.

The rear lights are pointing in completely different directions, the rear quarter is creased, the boot floor is bent in more than one direction and that is just what I can see from the pictures. Once you start digging who knows what else you will find.

Yeah mate that cars gone. You wouldn't look like a knob to just change your mind and give up, you would be respected for letting it go, the damage is beyond almost anybodies capabilitues who even specialise in body repairs.

The bulbs had to go anyway. By the time she's ready for an MOT I'll have gotten projectors, and shortly after the MOT they'll have 10000k HIDs and blue angel eyes. I've already spent far too much time convincing myself that I'm going to push on with it, and nothing short of a mint-condition 1.3 5-speed 2F saloon showing up at my front door is gonna make me do otherwise. I've been doing some shopping for a storage space that I can also use to work on the cars, and hopefully will have that sorted out mid-December. For now, we wait...

I don't need to properly repaint it, I can just rattle can some base coat on to keep the rust out as I'm gonna get a chrome vinyl wrap anyway

So here's what £275 got me

 

New rear panel and boot lid

 

Quarter panel got pulled out and they started with a bit of body filler

 

Boot floor straightened out and the hole in the wheel well welded up

 

I can't do much on it until I get the Nissan out of our garage and can get Dora in, but I figured I may as well paint it to keep the rust out while the weather's good.

Some additional body filler was needed to get the quarter panel back into shape, which it's pretty close to.

 

 

Naturally the ONE day I need VW alpine white paint, Halfords runs out of it. So I ended up painting with BMW alpine white and hoping it wouldn't look too bad. It's only until I get it wrapped anyway. That's still on the agenda.

It isn't the perfect shape as yet and the os light doesn't sit flush, so I'll do some more filling once she's in the garage. Results so far

 

 

(Partway through I decided to touch up some rust on the new tailgate as well. Didn't have enough to paint the whole thing and I need to get the stickers off anyway, so that can wait)

 

 

Getting there

 

That's come out really well and not a bad price considering the work involved. 

From the original rear end footage I thought the crash damage to Dora had made her shorter than a Smart and bent as a banana.

 

If the boot closes nicely and you can make sure there's no leak around boot seal or lights that should last well.
