It's a 16v Turbo. Sounds gorgeous. Could do with a good old bit of TLC to be honest but their garage is so full that the car doesn't fit in there.

As for the conversion I'm having a change of angle. I always wanted to do an ABF, not a 20vt. I would much prefer a gutsier NA engine than one that needs a turbo to deliver its power. So I'll be trying to flog on the 20vt soon in order to find an ABF. A 2.0 16v will still be a fantastic engine in this car though, they're much more fun than 20vt I feel.

Still not happy with the wheels though.

I have a polo that I am trying to get these BBS RZ's to fit on and I just had a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer.

What are the rears wrapped in, tyre size and tyre brand?

What length wheel bolts did you need for these?

Sorry I didn't see this buddy, I had them wrapped in 195/45/15's and they're on budgets all round at the moment. They'll be winter wheels when the Golf is back on the road.

I just used standard wheel bolts for mine but I know that the offset is different between mk2 Golf and Polo. The RX's that I had that came from a 6n2 tucked a lot on the Golf.

Well at the moment it's in the stage it's in in the last picture. Almost entirely stripped. Got a few more bits to come off, then the next step is a few bits of welding. The engine that is going in has now been removed from its original car. Getting a 112k ABF from a mk2 Seat Ibiza. When that's down I'll be giving that a hasty rebuild and hopefully throwing it all back together again before July!

Ready for the polo social no doubt wish i had some indoor space to take doors and things off the polo 😂, would deffo make a diy spray booth inside too lol.

Yeah my garage will be turned into a DIY spray booth soon haha. Whole car's getting a DIY respray (same colour, Tornado Red blowover) because it needs tidying up and I've now got several panels in different colours.

I'll go into a bit of detail because this thread is neglected and everyone loves a mk2 Golf. Basically it's getting new wings, doors, tailgate, rear arches and a fuel filler panel as these are all the bad areas. Also needs a hole plating in the floor. I've just relinquished some money for a more or less complete ABF set up and 280mm G60 brake setup w/master cylinder. Got a few bits to do some DIY work on the evenings. Namely going to be retrimming my headline in some kind of tartan and thinking of doing the door cars and interior trim too. I've got a rear beam to refurb and I'm binning off the drums for discs. Got a set of VDO gauges to go in eventually as well as a few other bits. I'm hoping she'll be ready for July so I can take her to the mk2 national. Might even be coming to the Polo Social if she's done in time as I imagine I'll have to sell the Valver when she's done.

Need to get out to the garage and crack on but I keep struggling for motivation. Hoping now that my engine and brakes etc are paid for and will soon be down here that I'll gain some motivation to get on it.

Aiming for a solid 180bhp on standard management and can hopefully achieve that with a decat, stainless exhaust, good induction and a remap to suit. I am toying with the idea of cams.

She'll be back soon I hope. Looking forward to more of this in the summer.

Yeah, it does look like a different car compared to the first photos in the thread.

Those wheels have since been sprayed white and are now on the Valver. I'm hoping that when the Golf comes back out to play it'll either be on some Compomotive MO5's (the flatter type) or some Borbet A's.

Nice wheel choices there to be a bit different, have you looked at fifteen52's? Not sure how they are priced though

I recently almost bought a set of these, 15x7 and 15x8 staggered Rota OS Mesh.

But then I'm also a big fan of this style of MO5...

And Borbet A's were my original vision. Wheels are last on the agenda anyway, got to get her welded up and running first!

Yeah lol lots of love for the compos, I had some 15x7's but not the flat kind on my old car

I don't think the other type would suit the mk2 at all. The ones above would go much better with the blocky look of the car I feel. Either way I think I'm gonna end up with mesh or some chunky 5 spokes!

Been in my ownership almost a year now. We've had our ups and downs and she's not moved since October but we'll get there.

It's worth it just to hear the positive comments you get from other people. Everyone loves a mk2.

Saw these and thought of you,(they come in 4x100) not sure if they would fit though (17" x 8j ET30). Guessing they are too big but that would be such a shame as new sets are 225 quid only. Before postage of course

You sure that's not per wheel? I'd have thought that's what it is. But year 17s are too big anyway. The Borbet A's I want are 16x9 and they'd give me enough of a fitment headache.

I don't know mate, I assumed they were an affordable wheel due to the name not being huge yet and them being cast wheels but you could be right. Then again with Ken blocks name using them as his main choice of wheel they must have a higher price surely.

Fifteen52's were quite high profile now I thought? I'm not sure. If they came in 15s or 16s I'd look into it but I'm not a fan of 17s on a mk2. Can't go smaller than 15s cos they won't fit over my 280mm brakes if they're any smaller.
