Steering rack with the all important damper mount. The mount is the only thing need to convert your non damped rack to being able to accept a suitable steering damper (sadly I don't have the damper)

This was a spare I bought many monns ago for my g40. it is in good order as far as I can tell. The boots are all good and is in clean condition.

what's the difference between a non dampened rack and dampened?

one has a damper and the other doesn't. My understanding (which could be wrong) is that it damps the effects of torque steer a bit, that and bumpy rutted roads. The only physical difference between the two racks is the metal bracket which allows connection of a steering damper. hope that answers your question

I thought all mk3 steering racks had the damper mount on the end of them? The bit you need is the cap that holds the rack in place with the extra bit that the other end of the damper bolts to. These only came on GT and G40s. Unless you have that and it just isn't in the picture?

Well when i googled it to do a bit of research as I wanted to be sure it was a gt/g40 rack, i found the non gt/g40 rack didn't have any mounts for the damper. All I have is shown in the pick, as stated it was a spare rack for when I owned 2 gts and a g40. I no longer have any polos and don't intend to have one again anytime soon, so just selling off my spares.
