Just brought a new set of rims of eBay for my Polo 6n2, I was happy with my purchase as I had got the seller down from £200 to £125, was on holiday at the time so got the wheels sent to a family member house, expecting them to arrive while I was on holiday. The wheels were located in "London". Got the tracking information from seller and it appeared that the wheels were not coming from London but were in fact coming from Poland so had to wait 2 weeks before I received the wheels.

I thought that was the end of it but it turned out that the wheels were not at described, Listing stated the "wheels in very good condition". Having now had a chance to have a look at them I have discovered that the wheels have a few minor problems. Pictures to show problems. Hope theses pictures show what I mean.

So what would you do if you received these wheels in this condition?

Wouldn't grumble at that price to be fair.

Considering they will be 25+ years old, seem to have been polished to a very high standard and have all the centre caps, I'd not complain about a few marks.

I understand that due to the age there may be marks, I would be aright with that if it was in the listing on eBay but it wasn't.

I would have been more annoyed that there were not coming from this country and that this resulted in you having to wait. The pics probably don't do your annoyance justice but they look okay I'n the pics , depends how you interpret very good.

That also annoyed me, having to wait for something that should only of taken a few day to arrive.

They look great from a distance, its just when you get closer to them you see all the marks.

Even if they were in London it still may of taken 2 weeks for them to be delivered, I've had sellers drag their feet over delivery before. As said tho it looks like you've got what you paid for, was it £125 delivered?

"Very good" is a long way from perfect.

If you want to take it further then by all means go for it. But if the seller turns round and says "Sorry for any hassle. Return them and I'll give you a full refund", what would you do?

I think you got a bargain that you can sell for a profit if you're not happy.

I would say the sellers description was pretty good after all they are off a mk2 golf and the youngest one of those is 22years old, it only looks like cosmetic marks so the condition sounds pretty accurate although I suppose you could argue one way or another but if one wheel was buckled a large ding in the rim, badly corroded or a damaged bolt seat then you've got a case but from the pictures no you haven't after all he didn't describe them as new, mint or A1 even though if it was me selling them I would have shown those marks in a picture as well as mentioning them in the text (perhaps i'm too honest) as mentioned previously you may be offered your money back in return for the wheels but you will more than likely have to pay postage so you're probably better off keeping them or putting it down to experience and selling them on or using them etc

Incidentally, they look chrome powdercoated. So they're easy maintenance. I would suggest they weren't prepped particularly well unless the damaged bits were all done later, and the wheels done on a budget.

Either way, for 125 quid you're laughing with chrome powdercoated teardrops at that price, even with a few minor battle marks.
