hi have got this little mk2 as a project hasn't been on the road for 2 years, and I've managed to sort her out with no advisories, after s lot of work she is starting to look the part. I am now looking for an engine and gear box conversion people say the 1.4 16v afh engine is decent but wanna know all about how to do it and if there's an easier and maybe cheaper engine/ gearbox to put in it and run it on 600 bike carbs

easier..no not really they all bolt in pretty much the same

cheaper would be a 1300 from a mk2 /2f or the 1400 abd from a mk3 golf then fit your carbs on

Thanks for the reply, And is this the same for a gear box for example would a abd gearbox fit aswell, would it need playing around ?

stick to a 085 from a polo as you need the mount from it too

4 speed one should work but take it if you find a donor car just incase

sinse yours is a early van you might want the arb off the 5 speeder too as the early ones can hit the 5 speed box
