I am going for steel rims to make my Mk2 look as stock as possible but to clear the Vauxhall brakes. A trip to the breaker yesterday was a waste of time because they didn't know what I wanted. I remember reading there was a 17" rim that has a stock 4x100 bolt pattern that comes off an Audi. Is this true? I would consider smaller rims as long as they clear the Vauxhall calipers. Can I have all your advice and suggestions please?

Thanks, I think if I tour the breakers with with a spare strut with the Vauxhall caliper bolted on then I may have better luck.

Would 15" 'G60' steel wheels not work? 17" will be huge on a mk2 even with the smallest of tyres.

I am trying the mini wheels with 165/50/R15 tyres. The hole in the centre is too small to fit the hubs and will need boring to suit. Some hub centre caps are coming with a blue VW badge.

Meganes came with 16" steels on some models. Fair few new sets on eBay for reasonable money. Been toying with the idea of getting a set banded out back and sprayed a nice OEM silver - just look like 16" G60s (if you squint!).

Which GM calipers? I have the 256mm brakes on both the mk1 Golf and Arosa and 14" steels are fine.

Yeah, the Astra GTE 16v and Cavalier 2.0i had 14's over their 256's, so standard VW 6x14's will be fine.

I had a trial fit of the Mini rim over the Vauxhall caliper and there was plenty of room so they should keep nice and cool. Does anyone know if 130mm inside offset will create much of a clearance problem?
