ONE ISSUE: Sometimes it starts and drives perfectly fine, sometimes it idles heavily and stalls. The fuel system will need cleaning out, and reconditioning the injectors may be a good idea as well.

This is a rare & increasingly valuable 1987 (and thus eligible for classic car insurance) 2.5L 2-door coupe, owned for 5 years, has been sat for about 7 months but is now back on the road with a fresh MOT (no advisories), good till October 2016. Just had new brake lines, calipers refurbished and a new fuel pump relay put in.

2479cc, 5-speed manual, petrol, black, alloy wheels, Thatcham alarm & immobiliser, central locking, power windows, electric seat adjustment, pop-up headlamps, power steering, ICE (aftermarket Sony stereo with CD/USB/Aux/Bluetooth). Bodywork in good condition, interior/upholstery needs some TLC, but everything is fully functioning.

Gave her a wash n polish & got some new pics. I'll be honest, there are a fair few chips and a respray would probably be in order... but even so, damn it looks good.

Yeah I never really had any plans for modifying it excessively, though a Porsche would look nice in a gold chrome wrap... kidding ofc, as long as it doesn't sell I'll keep tidying it up as best I can and keep it close to stock, as per our original thoughts when we bought it. It's got some faults here and there but it's a fantastic drive, and I personally wouldn't mind keeping it tbh... but we don't really have the space for it, and I need something a bit more practical these days rather than a classic sports car.

And if it does sell, I'm in half a mind to take a couple thousand from it and put it towards reparing the Polo

So you're basically pricing a saloon at £300? That's a bit low to be honest, given the current market prices?

Wasn't sure, given that the last loon I saw was going for £500 but it only had 30something-k's on the clock and practically no-rust... I figured £300 was a safe bet ah well I have a 6n now so no need to worry about that. This is still up for sale, but has been sat for a bit and there's one major issue with it - sometimes it starts and drives perfectly fine, sometimes it idles heavily and stalls. The fuel system will need cleaning out, and reconditioning the injectors may be a good idea as well. Our local garage has quoted me around £100 for it but we have too much to worry about atm, so I've just lowered the asking price to £5499.

Any cracks/bulges/small splits in the dash? Or a picture would be good if you can.

First night we got it it was parked up on the street outside, and some dickheads decided to jump on it and the roof caved in.

Ahh I've hunting like crazy for one with an un-shagged dash, it's soo common!

It is a LUX, not an S.

God dammit.

Turns out the car was facelifted in 2008 after a previous owner hit a deer, and it now has the S2 front on it which is what confused me (and a lack of any other info to go on). But yep, it's that same 8v LUX engine and all the rest. Edited the ad as apt. £2k still seems reasonable as a starting price, and depending on how my situation goes we may just be able to get the fuel system cleaned out and have it driveable come sale time.

See this is the one car I have that deserves restoration, but for no logical reason whatsoever my crash-damaged Mk3 and Nissan get priority over it If it doesn't sell I'll continue work on it little by little ofc, but I think it's better to check first and see if anyone's willing to devote some more time and effort to it than I can atm.
