Hi,

Up for sale is my Toyota Hilux surf. The only reason for sale is the purchase of a new house and imminent divorce if I dont get rid of the monster truck.

As you can see the Hilux has undergone some serious chassis modifications so I will start with that:

11 body lift Done very well with a whole frame underneath the cab area, custom rear body spacers and again another frame up front to tie in both sides.

Custom adjustable pan hard rods front and rear

2 Rancho RS9000XL (nitrogen filled and adjustable) series shocks tie the body to the chassis along with 2 further brace bars

3 suspension lift which includes Rancho RS9000XL series shocks all round and uprated torsion bars

4 near new modular steels wrapped in Kumho 35x 12.5x 15 road venture tyres (please note the truck will take 37 tyres if you wanted to go even bigger it used to, see the 2 images when the side steps werent fitted).

All the 4 wheel drive system works, high , low and the manual hub locks.

The body work I would consider very good for the age. There is some lacquer peel in places (please see pictures) and some light rust to the rear bumper although the chrome is generally in good condition. I recently machine polished and waxed/glazed the whole truck with meguiars products and given its age it looks great.

The interior is great as you can see from the pictures. Big and comfortable. The rear window and tail gate work perfectly (a common surf issue) so nothing to worry about there. A nice big end billet steering wheel is fitted.

Engine wise it has had a recent service (less than 1000 miles ago) which included fuel filters, engine oil and engine oil filter. It has roughly 94,000 miles on the clock. It has a cone filter fitted but I always wanted to get round to fitting a snorkel. The fuel pump has been resealed and is all generally in good order. There are stories of the 2.4 diesel model having head problems. I can assure you this one doesnt, the coolant has been flush and the thermostat housing stripped and inspected. No sludgy stuff, no coolant usage and keeps in perfect range whatever conditions.

There is also a turbo timer setup for 30 seconds, you key off and lock the car but the engine will continue to run for 30 seconds. This gives time for oil to circulate around the turbo at low idle before shutting down (prolongs life of turbo).

The truck is also fitted with a double din Sony head unit. You can connect to your phone (microphone built into truck) watch DVDs and the best part is the reversing camera displays through it. Yes thats right, just so you dont squash any small cars. A sterling alarm and immobiliser protect the vehicle with fully working remote central locking off the fob.

Tax it will be sold SORN as per the current law

Bad bits:

Speedometer doesnt currently work (wires to the rear of the clocks requires extending)

Horn is inoperative (fuse holder has corroded so I disconnected it just requires a new one)

Truck smokes on start-up (15 seconds) and then clears. I am a technical service engineer for a heavy diesel/plant company and this is nothing to worry about (most likely a few drops of diesel from an old injector overnight). Once running it runs nicely and passes MOT with ease.

Drivers side front tyre has inside edge wear (I recently replace upper and lower ball joints) and will require camber adjustment to bring it back in correctly.

Slight marks and corrosion to bumpers as stated and photographed.

The car is located in Cannock West Midlands.

This really is a reluctant sale but as I say I'm looking to upsize houses and my wife doesnt think it is practical to keep my toys until we are in a new place and settled financially.
