I'm not Facebook's biggest fan, mainly because every man and his dog is on it and you can post any old rubbish on any topic and people will take it as Gospel since it is on Facebook.

So I thought we could have a thread (not on Facebook) to post up some of the funniest things you have seen people ranting on about on Facebook.

I'll start with a post I saw today on a local car selling group, someone posted up a very well written advert for a 2002 BMW X5.

The first comment was a woman claiming she has the same car and it is not a 4x4 since it was awful in the snow!

She then proceeded to post up a separate thing in the same group showing her PMs with the seller. She was requesting the seller get banned and the advert deleted because the car is not a 4x4 and no one listens to her because she is a woman.

It gave me a chuckle anyway!

What amusing posts/comments have you seen?

Not strictly all on facebook but I met a guy on a work training course back in the day of my mk4 gti and he claimed he had a colt with and evo 8 engine in it etc, I was intrigued and he showed me his Facebook pictures with his car which looked dreadful. Of course this was all bull coming out his mouth and I noticed a few things he said which just didn't add up and as luck would have it I saw him at another course where this time he was extremely quiet about the car unlike previously...anyway at the end of the course I spotted him leaving the car park quickly in a blatantly standard colt same as in the pictures only with a blatant standard 1.3 or whatever it was and a pea shooter exhaust LOL

I love when you catch a liar and watch them squirm under the constant questions!

The biggest modifications he had were stickers on his windows and white painted steels, Not lowered or anything!

Years ago i was chatting to one of my neighbours about his brand new mk4 golf gti (20vt), he was telling me it has standard 260bhp and was raving how fast it is etc. didnt want to tell him that his chatting all bull and its 150bhp as standard not 260, just kept quiet and went in and laughed.

I'm no longer on facebook but the mk1-3 polo page was always good for laughing at retards. No idea what it is about that page but it seems to attract the lowest denominator of the scene to it like a moth to a bulb.

I like to watch the posts on that page, some of them are amusing. But half the time if they typed their question into Google they would more than likely find the answer in a post here from like 10 years ago! I think you could sell a 5 speed ARB to a mk2f owner from there with ease though. Some of the answers to technical questions are a joke as well.

uk-polo's facebook page. It's good for a laugh but things get heated very quickly on there. Topic that made me laugh on their today was 'bacon arches' as a nickname badly rolled arches

When someone not very car minded makes the mistake of asking for mechanical help on a local 'cars for sale' page or something similar and get all the keyboard mechanics giving them incorrect advice. Dread to think how many people have ruined their cars because of it. Does make you laugh though, maybe I'm just cold.

It is always the same people posting the the totally wrong answers, then the next day they ask a simple question themselves....

On the flip side sometimes the questions could be asked better, very few put what engine/car they are working on or what it is they are trying to achieve.

I've often likened it to this place back in the day but multiplied by at least 20. Every other week you'd get a post on here where someone would go full retard. It happens on there at least once a day, some times multiple times a day. The club polo "epic thread" thread on here has some gems in it, but it would be put to shame if there was one for epically retarded posts on that page.

The latest from today is the REAR gearbox mount on a 5 speed mk2f is different from a 4 speed mk2f and the wiring loom from a 1.0SPI is different to a 1.3SPI.

If the first guy typed that into Google he would have found threads on here which would give him a good start, but instead he puts it onto Facebook.

Then the second guy can't even look through previous posts on that page! Let alone do a Google search!

Unbelievable. That group pisses me off so much sometimes, it has the potential to be something decent then it gets ruined by the guys with an inability to think or to use any initiative to search on Google. And then people answer the posts...as if someone that lazy and half witted is going to carry out the conversion anyway

Thats the thing a Google search will give you all you need to get going and probably complete a commonly done conversion like an AFH into a mk2/2f on bike carbs. If you have done all that and still have an issue like it won't run etc. then post it up. Otherwise it is just a waste of time and bandwidth.

If you're doing it for the attention then why not come on here and start a build thread? I'd much rather read through that than Facebook anyway.

As has been previously states I think it is a case of people feeling like people are taking an interest if they post the question on a conversion when in reality they wont even do it. 90% are just hunting for attention and likes. Seeking the admiration of other moron's.
