Anyone running on 15s on their polo? And how much you've lowered it if you have, what profile tyre too?

My boss at work is gunna throw away a pair of mini steelies that are 15s so instead I was gunna put them on my polo if they weren't too big

As for tyre size 165/50/15 is very close to standard rolling radius so probably the best size to go for.

Do I compromise on how low I go or alloy size that's the question now hahaha

With the right tyres and offset you could go just as low on 15s as someone on else 13s.

I have just started buying mini 15" steelies and have realised that the hole in the middle is a bit too small to fit over the hubs. It is hard to get an accurate size because it is a rough bore but it needs to be 57.1 - 57.2 mm in diameter. I am going to take them to a local machine shop to have some bored out of them. So far I have bought one Bridgestone 165/50/R15 and had it fitted. I think it looks good. Today I measured to offset to the inside. The standard rim has a 120mm offset and the mini has 135mm so there is the possibility of clearance problem. I have bought some centre clip in hub caps with a blue VW badge. Also I will get some chrome wheel bolts. The Bridgestone uni directional tyre appears to be one of only two available in this size. So I hope it will look good. I have to run larger rims to clear Vauxhall calipers in the front. I hope this helps.

Mini is 56.1mm and the Polo is 57.1mm so they are close.

I have used both mini (r50 4 stud) steeliness and Vauxhall Astra/corsa steeliness. On both of these I have to grind out the centre bore slightly to fit properly.

Mostly mini steel wheels are 5 inch wide, some are 5-1/2 inch wide. There where options for winter wheels which I believe where 16" but these are very rare here. The Vauxhall ones I have are 5-1/2 inch wide. I originally had 195/45 on them which worked fine, but changed to 165/50 which imho where way too small so they went on eBay.

I am running 15" alloys on our mk2/f which are 6.5 inch wide and have 195/45 tyres. I'm not lowered at all and they fit perfectly. I fit them mainly because the original tyres had very little traction, and would skid under hard breaking. Braking and traction have improved dramatically now. Tyre are uniroyal rainsport 3 and I can't fault them at all.

Also if using the smaller centre wheel caps, and silver wheel rims the centre caps look really good in black (that's my opinion of course) you can also use original 15" VW hub caps, there are many and some look really great on the mk2/f, almost factory fitted.

Also another option which I was originally going for- g60 centre caps. These are rare (supposedly) and were pricey when I was looking. Those with high gloss silver rims would look fantastic.

Aired out, my coupe touches the floor on 15's. I suppose its all a case of tyres and how low you wanna go
