Diecast car collections (Not just Polo's)

Featured Replies

I thought it would be good to see everyone's collection and see what their tastes are like too, I started collecting again last year mostly 1:43 scale as they take up less space. I collected 1:18 for a few years and sold/threw a lot of them and then started again.

First are two Mk1 Polo's (Both corgi) the turbo one I got from Ebay a while back and the other has just arrived from a fella on mk1-3 polo owners.

Next up from super GT GT300 class - Gran turismo fans will recognise it is the super autobacs MR-S. I also like the disney cars livery one but this had more an impact on me from driving it in the early games

This is possibly the most special out the lot: Jaguar XJ13, Only one ever made and destined for le mans but never raced due to the regulations changing. In testing it done a hot lap and held the record for 32 years...where exactly is unclear but i would assume the lemans circuit unless it was achieved at silverstone where most the testing was carried out

A seat panda police car...Yes Seat not FIAT. Was a first for me to here that SEAT rebadged it and sold it in their country but it maintained the most basic suspension and engine from the first FIAT Panda when Italy got the upgraded 1000's etc. Bought on holiday as an impulse buy

Used to collect 1:18 scale Burago models back in 1998-2000 then sold them all.

Also had started to collect Burago 1:43 but sold them on too.

Now my only car model is a Silver James Bond DB5 in silver (Corgi) with pop up sheild, front guns and ejector roof (less passenger).

It's the edition without the little spikes in the front wheels.

That sounds pretty awesome actually, my mate had a cheapo one lol have you got a couple pictures of it?

Top cars

I've been collected corgi/matchbox Porsches since I was a teenager. Got 68 in total some as new and some rough ones. All bubble wrapped and stored away. Hot wheels have recently brought out a limited edition of 8 cars and I I've got a few coming from Santa.

I don't have a collection as such. I've just got 2 Schabak Polo GT coupes in black. One is still in the box and looks almost new. The other I've modified and made it sit lower so it kind of looks like my GT. I'll get pictures tomorrow.

I've also got a 1:18 mk1 Scirocco GTI. Can't remember the make but it is a good model.

Finally I've got a couple of those Lego models you were getting at the Shell garages for a while when you bought V-Power. They don't count as models (and are obviously plastic) but they sit in the same place next to my TV so to me they are just as good.

Elijah that's a big collection lol I'm taking it you don't want to picture the lot of them

Steve: Sounds awesome...always wanted to modify one looking at that old thread on here. Where on earth do you get the parts and at the right sizes etc? I see some people lowering there models and adding camber but I wouldn't know where to start lol

Look forward to seeing pictures

Funnily enough that steve mentioned the Schabak Polo's I just took order of one I plan to modify but mine is red. Not in amazing condition and without a box but that makes me more inclined to start tinkering with it.

Preparing to be laughed at now with what I am going to show you guys,

Supposing I get a cabinet when the collection grows bigger I may stick the polo in this http://scalescenes.com/product/t017-garage/ On a ramp or on axle stands and make a little scene for the cabinets top shelf :P

Pictures of the schabak polo coming soon

Not sure where I get most parts to modify this. Seen a website with some wheels but they don't have many good sets.

Had an idea to remove the base which will bring the engine with it and use a hobby knife to cut out the airbox and injection gear and try and find bike carbs to glue on haha

Not sure if I could lower it but it doesn't really need it anyway, some 1:18 scales have suspension and the springs can be cut

Edited by wizardmanjm

I lowered mine by just moving the axel up on the base. Take it apart and you should see how it can sit higher. The rear sits fine straight away but the front needs a tickle up in the arches with a dremel otherwise the axel twists and pushes the front bumper off.

had this 1:18 splitty since i was 5, was in really bad shop when i found it in my loft broken wheels etc soo i chopped it up abit fitted some ford gt40 alloys, wing mirrors and an engine conversion

Damn...that looks like a good copy, I wouldn't mind making a model of mine out of that, might have to get it as a self birthday present lol

I've ordered scaled down weber carburettors and bbs wheels for my coupe but they need to be made and it will take up to 3 weeks!

I'm hooked on Hot Wheels at the moment. They're chucking out some great castings:

I've got one of those Schabak models, too. Rebuilt it a few years ago (thread here: http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=295535)

And the Otto Models one. I've got two of these, I'd originally planned to make this into a bigger version of the Schabak car but I've never got around to it. The other one has only been out of its box to check it's fine.
