OMG.

So so awesome. Love the movie/TV stuff 8>)

Me too! Ecto 1A gets more impressive when you look around it:

Love the ghost trap in the back:

There's a stretcher in the back with proton packs, too:

My parents are preparing to move house at the moment, so boxes of old toys keep turning up here and I'm hauling loads of things up to the attic. Stumbling across my old Kenner Ecto 1 gave me the opportunity for a photo I couldn't resist taking. Shame it's changed colour...

Interesting, when you look at the tail fins, to see the similarities. If you look at the Kenner and the small Hot Wheels ones, they're based on the Ecto 1 from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, and the proportions are quite similar. The Lego and Hot Wheels Elite versions are based on the films, they've got an extra rear window and different tail fins, they're also longer and more squat.

IMG_4553.jpg

Unashamed obsession going on here. I'd like to give my younger self a smack for painting details on the Kenner version, though.

Enough, Alex, enough!

Cheers for the pics! Nice model 8>)

Your post made me look for the hot wheels version and I noticed the differences. Looks like the cartoon version has a shorter wheelbase. Would love any of them though!

Just ordered an A-team van :D

Hot wheels have done a 'hot wheels porsche collection" £2.50 each in tesco so I bought a few, look cool..misses bought me a schabak 2f breadvan too which looks great and will be staying unmolested as I pretty much ruined my coupe.

need to redo paint some day as when I opened the doors it chipped off, need to try and lay it a bit thinner but it's hard lol other than that the new axles and minilights look cool and it's slammed

Well about time I shared the most recent cars added to the collection

Got these nice hot wheels models from tesco, 4 porsches and a Nissan 180sx...quite nice models actually for 1.50 and 2.50

Also got a lego ferrari la ferrari

And a schabak polo 2f breadvan from the misses...looks a bit better quality than the coupe version they sell

Also a small van and a small breadvan that I was made aware of by some of you guys on here. A size comparison by an already small 1:43 breadvan to show just how small they are too.

quick question, will bbs wheels from 1/18 scale fit a 1/24 diecast model? or isit to big?

Thanks nimal

Something for you to modify? think they arent too common http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schabak-VW-Polo-Deutsche-Post-DHL-1-43-Scale-Die-Cast-Volkswagen-Yellow-NIB-/221881790563?hash=item33a92f7063:g:QNAAAOSwyQtV7b9n

EDIT:uncommon  There are a few of those HERPA 6n's but the price is very steep This one is practically your colour but its more expensive http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-VOLKSWAGEN-POLO-2-DOORS-Mk3-TYPE-6N-1-43-HERPA-VW-RED-RARE-/231787580578?hash=item35f79dcca2:g:lLUAAOSwYaFWc6MF

I hadn't realised how small those breadvans are! Very cool.

So tempted by the Porsche collection but I've already got a couple of them and the later stuff isn't great. Hmm.

There's a BMW collection coming out soon with the E30 M3 and a 2002 among them. The latter is a must-have for me. I already have an E30, but it's a bit rough, so I might buy another and modify my current one. We'll see.

It's like everyone's suddenly started collecting Hot Wheels. There's a load of journalists collecting them too, I've got two boxes upstairs of cars I've picked up for other people haha!

Yeah it was you that tempted me in with hot wheels Alex, the problem is rifling through them to find the good ones among the daft kiddy ones. And also holding the burning eyes of people thinking why is that 23 year old looking at all those toys for [emoji14]

BMW collection sounds good, hopefully they don't put lots of silly decals on them :/

I am certainly one of those who suddenly started collecting hot wheels recently. For weeks I kept seeing the thread title on Edition 38 and thought "seriously?". Then one day I clicked on it to see why it kept being bumped up the list. Saw pictures of the hover delorean and quite simply had to find one! Then the porsche 356 started appearing and needed that too! Then got slightly addicted to searching through the piles of cars in the shop hoping to find something really cool!

They are that cheap that it's hard not to buy them. :sorry:

That thread on E38 is partly my fault. We had a thread on a forum down here, and I encouraged Scotty Dogg to get involved. That forum collapsed a couple of months ago, and the thread came up on E38. I don't use E38 much, so I hadn't seen it until this week.

They're really on point with their new castings, I'm not surprised it's getting popular.

So based on a tip-off on E38 I've discovered that Home Bargains stores have the Looney Tunes set from 2014. The paint jobs are gopping but they're on Real Rider rubber tyres and at £2 a pop I'm quite happy to use them as donor cars.

I love these staggered wheels. And unfortunately I quite like this casting so it nearly stayed whole. But I attacked it with polish to get rid of Taz, and it didn't work. So, knowing it would have to come apart anyway, I decided to put it to use as planned.

55Ford.jpg

This is the 8 Crate. It's a 1955 Ford 2 Door Station wagon with an engine in the back. Cool casting, quite common, cost me a quid from Tesco so again no worries about damaging it.

2F1C3379-9249-4544-A4BA-BB2E8284C605.jpg

The graphics come off with a little polish and elbow grease. Much better.

AF6BA98A-C569-4C7D-9C2A-B5130623795A.jpg

And here it is on its new wheels. I'm going to paint the bottom half in a different colour and touch in all the chrome mouldings but this gives you some idea. It rolls like it's just come out of the blister pack.

The main reason I wanted to swap wheels, though, was this:

continental.jpg

I love the casting, I love the stance and the wheels are cool, but they don't suit it. Thankfully the Looney Tunes range has a modified truck with narrow axles and white wall tyres.

58E63025-D9A8-427E-8175-49B245433626.jpg

Yep, that's much better. I was going to paint them chrome but I quite like the gold. I had to buy two trucks, as the rear axle is wider than it is on the Lincoln, but it's hardly breaking the bank.

I hate to say it but it's quite easy with a steady hand and a little patience.

  • Author

They look sooo good, it's amazing what can be done with a bit of polish and a wheel change!

Definitley stick with the gold wheels too, makes it pop more [emoji4]

I've got two shoe boxes full of my hot wheels and corgi cars that have collected over the years, just love them. The new Porsche series are super but 2.50 each is to much.

A few i bought from poundworld

Pound world do em [emoji50] I paid an extra 50p for that porsche one lol and can't believe you bagged a Delorean and an escort too

Yeah Poundworld has come up on that E38 thread. Shame there aren't any handy for me to try!

I've got a spare Hover Mode DeLorean which I really must get on eBay at some point.

I don't even know where my nearest poundworld is. But I have a Home Bargains just round the corner from me, might see if they have any of those Looney Toons cars in there.

The '55 Ford now looks like this:

E2ADFDF4-1C67-4595-9CEB-71F9E640FEDF.png

Need to paint the chrome bits to finish it off. Yep, that's Pearl Grey haha!

Picked these up this week, too:

8A9C73E8-12EE-4A46-9807-9DD85E9F6F8F.jpg

And some parts cars. Both Caddies, just different types:

2C9DD862-FF88-45FE-9CF5-A232941D8670.jpg

The idea was to stop the axles from the Looney Tunes trucks going to waste. The wheels are huge and the axles are wide, so there isn't much they'll fit. I had to chop the chassis a little, and I haven't freed them up so they spin yet:

89B077B9-8E69-4F65-81B4-A83971FA85E7.jpg

They're a bit big, but in an oversized cartoony kind of a way.

The Cadillac is one I've had my eye on for a while. I was going to use it as a donor for the Lincoln, but ironically it's ended up with the Lincoln's wheels and looks like a hooptie. I quite like it.

5F1EDD93-EDF6-466F-99A9-56EFD7996ED3.jpg

The Cadillac's wheels are awaiting a new home. I have plans.

  • Author

will you be modding that porsche alex?

Possibly. ;)

Picked this up earlier, with plans to flip the tyres around and put them on the Chevy.

IMG_0825.JPG

But I haven't glued anything together so it's easy to try wheels on other cars. I decided they're a better fit on the 8 Crate.

A0982256-330C-4025-9B0F-BCC3B0AA57FE.jpg

The pic doesn't show the size of the rear wheels, but they're huge. Looks cool, needs the chrome bits painted. Soon.

So where did the wheels from the 8 Crate end up? Well...

4F925FCE-8D18-4793-ABF3-04E28DE5B47E.jpg

Anyway, I've now exhausted the useful wheels from the Looney Tunes cars. So I'm done.

8C46C570-265E-43D1-A873-5075BAA91088.jpg

Put the plastic 8 Crate wheels on the Pepe Le Pew car. It's still hideous but I might satin black it if I get time.

Where do you get the Porsche from - not go that one.

My local Asda, those two only cost me a quid each. Bargain.

Never seen any 356 hot wheels before Asia it is tomorrow then.

Asia it is tomorrow then.

That's one hell of a trip for a Hot wheels model !!
