We had a decent turn out at the Club Polo track day last year so I have spoken to Mazda On Track to organise another one this year. It will be held at Blyton Park again on the 16th July. For those that don't know Blyton Park is a fantastic little course that is perfectly suited to a small car like the Polo.

Doesn't matter what you drive whether it is a little 55bhp Mk2 or a fire breathing Turbo'd G40, everyone is welcome and I can assure you it is a great day out to enjoy your car.

Search YouTube and you'll find plenty of videos of the track and even a few filmed in Polos

This again will be run by our friends at Mazda on Track so you can rest assured that everything will be conducted in a safe but fun environment.

The track has plenty of run off areas so if you do go into a corner a bit hot then hopefully all that will happen is you'll get a few grass stains.

You will require a helmet there will be a limited supply on the day so please let me know when paying if you need one or you can buy your own for around the £50 mark. Car should be able to pass a MOT which means they are in roadworthy condition with no fluid leaks. You will need to bring your current MOT and driving licence on the day.

Prices are £135 per car normally. Through us forum users will get on for £120 and if you are a Club Member it will be £90. If you have extra drivers they are an additional £25 and passengers are £10

Sign on starts at 7.30am with the briefing at 8.30am and the track opens at 9am. There are quite a few B&B's around for those that don't fancy an early start.

I'm going to start by getting numbers and then in February I'll start asking for full payment or deposits to secure places.

I may have to be a passenger but we will see lol, don't even know if I can make it at all yet never mind bready going too!

I'll be spectating this year I think, planning on ditching the car for the van and a bike.

I've not done a trackday before but would like to do one :) do you guys bother with trackday insurance? My car isn't stupidly expensive but at the same time it's not cheap enough for me to not care if I wrote it off. I understand the intention isn't to crash but I thought I'd ask

I didn't bother with track day insurance. There is plenty of run off space so the chances of you doing proper damage to your car are pretty slim. But at the end of the day it is up to you, how much you trust yourself and those around you.

Just take it slow. As I've explained before it is not a race, just a chance to push yourself and your car in a safe environment.

Last year the marshal on the track entrance was good as keeping everyone spread out and if you catch up to a slower car, or someone faster catches up to you then there are designated passing places for the slower car to pull over.

It will be good to see a newer Polo on the track along with all us mk2-2f guys as well :)
