was gutted and was in two minds whether to just try and sell it and get back as much as i could or just bite the bullet and repair it.

after about 3 days of just looking at it i finally gave it a quick wash and it didnt look quite as bad as i thought, was sat in a garage for 5 years so was quite dusty to say the least!, once i washed it is when i decided I'm just going to get it all repaired so i got on the phone to mountspace in chichester where i bought the two arches and one sill, then i got on the phone to my brother inlaw who rang a few of his friends, being in the motor trade he knew alot of people that could do what i needed doing!, within a few days one of his friends came out and gave me a decent quote for two rear arches, passenger sill, inner sill repair and inner arch repair, so that was the welding sorted, stripped the interior out the next day ready for the car to go over to my brother inlaws where the work was carried out, whist it was there he got it running nicely too,
after its first wash it looked like this:

once i got it home i changed the old slam bar out for one in much better condition i had in my shed from a previous polo, the harliquin seats are all up in the loft covered up trying to keep them in good condition, and chucked a pair of 16v seats in for now,

That's a serious project you have there but well worth keeping. I know of a very old lady who has had one of these for new near me.

that rear arch looked proper %**%ed, glad you got it sorted and fixing it than selling it, cant wait to see more progress

Not much of an update but done the coolent yesterday, she's off to paint on Wednesday but it will only be the shell getting painted for now, will post a picture when it's back

Loving this mate, I've got serious cravings for a Harley, but I'm not willing to part with the 16v or my Jetta and I don't have room for any more!

Keep the updates coming!

unfortunately not really done alot, sort of fitted a fiat top fill rad so i can get rid of the expansion bottle, washer bottle is being moved to the boot aswell as the battery, thinking about taking the engine out to start smoothing the bay, but im unsure whether to do a rebuild on the 1.4 8v thats in the car now or crack on with my afh/avy engine and put in it... hmm cant decide, any opinions?

no point rebuilding that 8v engine,  all that money can go towards your afh hybrid engine. That would be kinda special in a harle.

thats what i was thinking, but ive got to think about insurance too... :(

Chuck a G40 engine in!

insurance shouldnt be that much. If your with a standard insurance it might be expensive. But if you go to a specialist insurance for modified cars it wouldnt be a problem. When my polo was a 1.0 i was paying 800 a year with elephant insurance. Now with my engine conversion (afh) im insured 700 with brentacre  insurance and thats with everything, They dont charge extra for cosmetics ie valver front and rear bumpers, 6n2 rear lights  etc,

ring around for afew quotes on specialist insurance like adrian flux, hic, sky, brentacre which im with.  avoid normal car insurance like elephant, bell when it comes to engine swaps. Reason i was with Brentacre is because there were the only modified car insurance (while searching at the time) that would accept my 10 months no claims bonus. others would only accept 1 year no claims bonus. Now im insured for one year and they said oem upgrade styling (valver bumpers) doesnt cost extra
