Bought a nice boost guage I've been meaning to do for a while. So put it in this morning. to keep an eye on what the turbo is doing. [emoji3]

Drilled holes to fit mount the guage on the dash insert

Vacuum pipe fitted through the bulkhead

cut the hole in the trim and all fitted in. Need the trim under the guage fitted but it's in and working

So here's the next step in my project. Went to the local scrappy for a dig. Hoping to find a mk 3 golf gti but none found. But found a few mk 4 golf's. Knowing the fronts were different I stripped off the rear hubs brakes etc. With a bit of mix and match I can get the 5x100 hubs on with discs and using my original stub axles and caliper carriers I'll have the mk4 golf hubs discs and calipers on. If this works out like I'm hoping eventually there will be mk4 r32 vented rear discs and calipers but that's for the future. Here's the bits I picked up for a mere £15.

With a good scrub the discs will be good to go til I can afford new and I know the setup works well. [emoji1]

New 5x100 15" wheels arrived this morning. Went for a different wheel. Hopefully get them on tomorrow.

Spent most of the day converting to 5x100. So here's how I did it.

The easy bit. 4x100 to 5x100 20mm converters on the front.

The rears were a bit more of a job. Basically I had 2 choices. I would either convert or adapt mk4 golf rear hubs to fit the polo stub axles which on removing the polo hubs and was a no, the polo bearings and races were just too small. So plan b was to re drill the polo hubs to 5x100.

1st was to use my hub adapters as a guide to get the holes in the right place so I fixed the adapters to the hubs and used the bench drill to mark out the holes. Then removed the adapters and back on the bench drill to drill out the holes.

Then run a tap through the 5x100 holes. Wash out the bearings re grease and refit them into the hub. Then fit the bearings back on the stub axle. What about the disc's? I hear you say. Surely they need drilling as well? NO Is the answer to that. The discs I took off the golf are exactly the same size as the polo ones so I just fit them on instead, just sacrifice the screw that keeps the disc in place when the wheels are off. So with the disc on and all rebuilt the rears are now 4x100 and 5x100 [emoji3]

I know they need a bloody good clean up and the backing plates need replacing etc but for this job i just wanted to get the 5x100 conversion sorted. Now I know it all fits and works well I'm fitting the mk4 calipers and giving them a nice coat of paint and getting it all sorted.

Now I'm running 5x100 15" wheels :)

One of the last 6n2s and a rare colour too. I had a 51 plate tdi great car.

Yeah I can't see me changing for a long time. I get a lot of fun out of it :)

Changed my tyres from rubbing 195/55 15s to 165/50 15s. And no more rubbing and able to go much lower.

I bought one after I sold my lupo gti and I loved it, I also had a lupo tdi that again was fab. In first gear it would bounce of the rev limiter. I actually preferred the tdi to the gti.

Awesome colour.. why didn't the gti's come in this!

Thanks both . Yeah I can't remember seeing many others in this colour. Don't get many 6n polos in work these days. Especially gti's.

Got some new bits to go on. The mk4 golf rear calipers painted up and new back plates for the rears.

The mk4 golf rear calipers went straight on and as you can see in the pics you get a slightly bigger piston, worth a trip to the scrap yard [emoji3]

Then all fitted and looking better. And painted the fronts while I was at it. The back plates are for another day when I can strip the rear axle off, give it a scrub and a coat of waxoil.

@Trumpeeh yeah they are rare as hens teeth to get for a decent price, I wasn't so lucky with mine, with broken wires everywhere and I bought mine for 450

Yeah I was lucky to get this one. It was a trade in from one of our customers, an old couple and the clutch had gone so I snapped it up for £400 and replaced the clutch.

Gave her new rear backplates couple weeks ago. And a good spray of black waxoil over everything not painted [emoji4] . Need to drop the subframe and rear axle next to give then a clean up and a coat of waxoil.
