Owned Polly for a number of years now. Started out as my girlfriends and has slowly become my car as I use it as a daily.

Her uncle picked up from an elderly lady who used it to drive to the local shops and back. Had been garaged for a while as she had it on SORN.

I've waited so long for a thread haha, glad to see you did one finally. Looks tidy

Ever since owning Polly, we've been aware of the dreaded battery tray rot she has succumbed to [emoji22]

Way back when (5/6 years or so), not knowing any better at all, we cut out the rust, and added a layer of fibreglass. Alas, fibreglass is rubbish, and again, we get a wet right foot when driving.

It has a layer of frog tape which was used as a surface to fibreglass over. Awful, I know.

Need to get this welded asap really.

The fact that we're saving for a house, and Polly is my daily commute car means I got to put it off [emoji107]

Took advantage of the GSF discount code last weekend and ordered a load of stuff :-)

Fresh oil and filter

New sump plug and washer

Air filter

Front shocks/springs/top mounts

Fuel pump

Gear lever repair kit

New timing belt

New seat runner clips

Just got to get the weather/time to fit it all.

Not sure if it will be any use, but I figured the castle nuts on the suspension would be an ideal application...

Very slow progress on anything at the moment, which is good news and bad news.

Bad new as there's very little progress, but good news as it is because I am buying a house 

 

• New front springs and shocks are fitted (along with new top mounts etc). She now looks like she is on stilts at the front. 
• Oil changed.
• New fuel pump fitted (the old one started leaking oil so I changed it before fuel started emerging).

 

She has also been running extremely rich for a long while, so I got my backside in gear and tried to remedy this. I had tried adjusting this previously and found that even with the mixture screw all the way in, she didn't cut out. I'm fairly certain someone previously deformed the screw/seat and it's buggered. I pulled out the other Weber I have and swapped the bases over (I ended up buying two as one was slightly broken when I received it, but the mixture screw was untouched).

 

She went in for her MOT and I'm pretty chuffed! She got 3 advisories, all things that have shown up before (a slightly corroded brake line, and both rear shocks have a misting of oil).

 

Need to get the rears shocks/springs done at some point. I'm fine with keeping it stock for a while. I like the usability.

 

Also going to keep fine tuning the carb to get it right. Might even try using the Gunson Colortune kit again. Maybe.
