That's the thing so many people refer to items as being GT or G40 specific even when they were the same on all models. Bumpers are a good one that has been coming up lately, a £6 red strip from eBay turns your standard worthless bumper into a "GT bumper" that increases the value of a car. The same with late spec rear lights being referred to G40 rear lights. Some people are even trying to start all this between 4 and 5 speed models too. Because VW had such a big budget for the Polo that they made a 1.0 4 speed out of completely different parts to a 1.3 5 speed.

Mk2 Golf's have also hit this stage and are only going to get worse. I wanted some 160mph clocks and I looked on ebay, they all range from £100-£160. Just for dash clocks. In the end I spotted and snapped up a 'bargain' set for £50.
