Hi lads,

Just looking for some advice. I have a polo 6n2 lowered 60mm on springs so its softer than on coilovers. I have fitted 7j 15" wheels with 195/50/15 tyres. Its rubbing on full lock either way, and on bumps, especially with passengers. Will smaller tyres fix this, like 185/50 or 185/45? Or do I need to change wheels? I don't want to roll the arches.

Try to find where exactly it's rubbing. If it's the inner arch then tyres might help. I would say without seeing it myself 185/50 would be a nice tyre size for 7j. Thinner tread width and slightly lower side walls. I'm going for 195/50 15s for my new wheels when I get them on and mines on coilovers but I'm still not totally decided. Maybe you could use spacers on the fronts and adjust the camber out to tuck the wheel in under the arch. That's a cheaper option then tyres. Hope this helps ☺

Search 165/50 15 on blackcircles. £35 continental tyres :) that's what I'm getting lol.

I'm running 7j et24 BBS RZ's, coilovers wound down to probably around 80mm and I rubbed on 195/45, so I've gone down to 175/50 and now don't rub at all.

It was still on 195's in the following pic but that's an example of the ride height.

Yea the fronts are rubbing on the inner arch. I might try 185/50 so and see. Busby,the coilovers are stiffer than springs so would move less on bumps. I'll try the 185/50 and see! Thanks guys!

Hi lads, first tried 185/55, no good. Then 195/45, so far so good! Not catching on full lock and doesn't seem too bad over bumps either. Just letting ye know!

I'm running 165/50 r15s which are awesome looking on my 6j wheels. Though I've slammed and spaced out the fronts. Glad you got the right tyre now

Hmm, must keep that in mind! I paid 60 per corner, balanced and fitted for a brand called Event! Never heard of them, and i dont trust them. Apparently they are useless in the wet, and this is strange to be saying but it hasn't really rained in Ireland in the last few days so I don't know yet! I'm sure I'll find out soon enough!

I fit my own tyres so it's cheaper for me but they do fitting as well. It's a tesco run business. Events are a budget tyre. That's quite pricey for them. Though the profile is probably what puts the price up. Worth a shop around for the right tyre

Yea he said it was an uncommon size and that he had to order them, never the less, my next set will be ordered from black circles for sure and won't be a budget tyre.

Do you know the offset of your wheels mate? 195/45/15 is the correct diameter for a 6n2 but obviously you can go a few % either way to keep your speedo accurate enough.

Does anyone know if 195 15s fit a mk2f coupe

What profile?

6n/2 are generally like a % size up from mk2f, like 6n on 14/15 ideally you'd have 185/55/14 and 195/45/15, on a mk2f you'd want 185/50/14 and 195/40/15.

So depends what profile you're thinking?
