There was an attempt to steal my 2000 W reg Polo classic 1.9 TDI Saturday night. WTF. Steal a 15 year old Polo? Why?

First they drilled the drivers side lock. Fail but damaged +.

Then they tried to lever out the handle. Fail but damage +++.

Then they broke the rear quarter-light and the rear door's window. Why both? I suspect they did the quarter-light first but couldn't reach the button to unlock so gave up and did the bigger window.

They got in as drivers seat was well back and handbrake off.

At this point neighbours had heard the commotion and came out. Scared them off. No point involving the innsurance company. They will write it off, pay me £200 and double my premiums for the next 5 years. I will repair it myself.

Glass I can replace but the front door is not repairable. Anyone know if the front driverside door is the same on a 6KV four door to a 6N2 four door?

Final comment. Fairly Determined Scrotes. 0 - 1 Polo.

Nigel
