Whether it is a 100" multi thousand pound monster brimmed with shiny spanners or just an adjustable, a hammer and some gaffa tape in a bucket (which I have seen!)

I thought that I would start off this thread to show the beauties and the beasts that fix our reliable, low maintenance Polos

We all know that one person that hoards car parts just because "It may come in handy even if I never use it". Lets show off the tool hoarders!

Yes I know it's a Fiesta.. But the box is white, I'm a lover of white tool boxes. The black and green 40" is now sold :( Couldn't justify two boxes

And you can never have enough sockets...

This is only draw 1 (9-24mm spanners) of the 3 draws filled with spanners, always best to have as many types as you can to make a job easy.

They are an utter pain the in @rse.. If I'm in a slightly dark area and I'm kneeling working, I'll quite often put one on the floor and only find it when its sticking in my kneecap

Pretty sure my girlfriends dad has laid claim to a fair few of my tools. Having said that, he lets me store my clag, so in a way, it's a fair trade :P

Yeah haha that's why I don't go mental. I drop a kind "have you seen my 10mm?" Rather than "stop stealing my f*****g tools!"

Just scared he'll say both my polo's will be on the road and all my tools will have to be stored in them haha

I started buying loads of tools when I was an apprentice and kind of stopped when I realise you'll buy something which seems a really good idea, justify the few £hundred its cost you, and never use it...

Do need to invest in some helpful stuff mind like longer ratchets with swivel heads and a long flexi head 17mm ratchet spanner! haha.

My jobs quite specific so I wouldn't say I need the huge range like you would do working in a back street garage with all manner of cars.

Did have a nice snap-on box but work replaced all our boxes with built in Lista things, so all my tools are now rolling around in the drawers of one of them instead.

Must start collecting stuff for home when I've built garage!

I'm just an amateur home mechanic, just work on my own cars and not much else. Used to do a lot of homers for people but these days it isn't really worth the hassle, but I built up my tools over that time. Didn't buy a proper toolbox though until last year. Got myself a Halfords roller cab and top box in the picture below. Managed to fill it with everything I had and still have some stuff which I can't fit in. No idea how I kept a track of my tools before hand! I don't spend a stupid amount on tools, but I try not to buy cheap rubbish. Most of my stuff is Halfords Advanced, couple of Snap-On tools and got my Bahco socket set which I take everywhere.

That number plate is from the blue coupe. Just the first one I had to hand. I thought it was the law to hang number plates up in a garage?

Battery impact gun ! Most handy tool ever for working on cars.

Do like your work space kwijibo, that's a pretty much perfect setups to cover most jobs

Impact guns are a handy tool providing you're not a retard, see so many people misusing things either resulting in a fucked thread or something nowhere near tight enough or far too tight

Yeah I've seen guys work on a car using nothing more than an impact gun and a set of sockets. Makes a job quick but you have no idea how tight anything is.

For me its main use is taking wheels off.

But I got it in a deal with the drill, they use the same battery so it's pretty handy. Plus nothing like a decent drill.

I use both the same drill and impact gun as you have daily on the buses. Quality is brilliant!

This is my box, and no it didn't fit in the back of my A4. I've not got a lot of tools just yet, I buy my tools based on my overtime right now, that way gives me an excuse to buy! But I've mainly got Teng, Bahco and Halfords stuff.

Yeah I would like to know too! Got a gasless one myself but not a fancy one like that, the wire tensioner is a bit crap on mine and once you start welding anything more than 3mm it doesn't penetrate well

Gasless is more ideal for my home situation so I am looking for another but obviously a better one

No it is not gasless, the kit even came with one of those little hobby style CO2 bottles.

I'll give it a go in the morning and report back :)

For those who were interested I had a quick test of the welder today. My welding knowledge and experience is very limited but it took me about 2 minutes to get the settings right so I could write my initials in an old piece of exhaust pipe.

I'm going to keep practising before I aim it anywhere near one of my cars though
