So after the guy who is painting my car came to pick up some stuff from mine on Monday and stating that the car should be ready by next Friday, I instantly started looking for some 14" steels which I had been for a while just never found any near me haha. Anyway, luckily found some local which were cheap and came with some tyres which I will be changing as the profile is too large and 2 were down to metal canvas. They came off a MK2 Golf GTI which was handy too as I wouldn't have to faff about with spigot rings or anything like that. 

 

 

 

Initially I quite like the white and black but they are a bit beaten so would need redoing if I was to run just steels. The main reason for these were for the Mercedes hubcaps which I have been storing away. So I decided to see what they looked like on the wheels and ran into a small issue but it doesn't really bother me that much to find another set. The issue is that they don't sit flush against the steel rim itself. The gap is only slight so I'll run them anyway and they still fit tight and takes quite a tug to get them off. Here are a couple pics of them on and the gap. 

 

 

As you can see from the pictures, the hub caps look a little sorry for themselves. So after working some more on the fibreglass and wood enclosure for the sub to sit in the left hand side they were staring at me to get cleaned up and polished. So I sat in the garden as for once it wasn't raining lol. This is the result after working on them for no more than 5/10 mins each and I'm pretty pleased! I'll be going over them again 100% before fitting to try and get anymore dirt out and more shine in :) 

 

 

Whilst I was at it getting things prepared for when I get the car back I decided to dig out my TT knee bars and flat them down and polish those up. I used 800, 1200 and 2000 wet and dry to get any imperfections out without being too abrasive and then polished them up. They aren't as shiny as the hub caps but are so much better looking than before (I forgot to take a pic). Think they'll look nicer when they're fitted now too! They don't look polished much on the picture but they are better in person in mu opinion.

The TT knee bars are going to be fitted on the sides of the centre console. Where the gear knob and heater controls are :) never heard of the show to be honest but just looked at where it is and it's about 2 hours away from me :( looks like a decent show though! I plan on taking my car to GTI International which is what I'm aiming to get the major stuff done by. You going to inters? 

Where is infers as I could probably make that one but I know I'm gonna head to tatton park

Inters is at Shakespeare county raceway in stratford upon avon. That's a decent show too with a drag strip for the quick cars unlike mine haha. Let us know how it goes there dude looks a decent show 

What holders did you order from boltsbolts man? I'm looking at getting a pair for mine. Good build, look forward to seeing more

I actually bought the kit straight off ebay from boltsbolts themselves. I can't remember which number they are, I think they are 308 and brown. You will have to trim the tabs on the holder itself and cut out the reflector inside the indicator otherwise it will melt. There should be a kit on their website I'd just order that one dude or off ebay. Thanks man, much appreciated! 

Sorry there hasn't been an update in a while! But here goes this update is a big one as I've been busy with the car and was trying to get it ready for inters. 

 

This was the car the day she got dropped off. I was really pleased with the outcome and the colour. I knew it was the right decision as soon as I seen it! 

 

 

From this point on it was all about detailing the car and getting the paint looking the best it could. So I went and bought some polishing pads for the rotary to start with and some G3 premium cutting compound and some fine wet and dry to get rid of any orange peel. Here's a few pics after I started on the roof and one picture of a door. 

 

 

 

 

After I started polishing I noticed a few imperfections in the paint so I went back to the body shop and had it all rectified. Was nothing to do with the painter but what was underneath. Not quite sure what had happened but it's far better now. Here's a pic of the car 1 week before GTI Inters. 

 

 

 

Hectic wasn't the word last week! Spent almost half a day every day on the car just to try and get it ready! 

Next thing I needed to get done were the 2 front seats from the mk5 golf gti. One was actually already in the car but I wasn't 100% happy with it. So it came out and was welded up again and put into the car. Getting the 2 seats in the front took me almost 2 days as it was a lot of trial and error, fitting and re-fitting and a massive amount of planning to say the least! 

 

 

The way the seat in this picture was welded up wasn't sitting right or good enough so out it came and back came out the welder. Stressful times. 

 

Just a random one parked next to a standard polo. Makes me love mine so much more. 

 

 

Also finally trimmed up the sub box which now has no leaks and actually sounds better than I expected. Nice and punchy. Love the 10 inch alpine sub. 

 

 

 

The next update will be pictures I've taken with a proper camera at GTI International. Will be updated today just have to sort through them. Won't be much description on the next one. I just hope my photography skills are good enough haha :) 

 

 

So the day finally comes for Inters. I was so excited and nervous at the same time as it was my first ever time being in a show. Although on a club stand and not in show and shine it was a good experience to say the least met a couple nice people. Just a shame it wasn't as busy as I'd expected it to be like the previous years :(. 

 

Anyway just a quick explanation of what had been done for the paint etc. Was cut and polished with wet and dry, G3 and a final glaze of G10. It was then snow foamed, shampoo'd, clay barred, a coat of kleen freaks liquid wax and detail spray and for the windows I used kleen freaks rain repellent (which is awesome stuff by the way)! The interior, all seats and door cards were cleaned with autoglym's interior shampoo (I think it's called) foams up a bit and gets rid of stains, dirt and makes the cloth look so much cleaner. Used kleen freaks detail spray to clean the dashboard and any other plastics. The splitter and other various rubber and vinyl bits were cleaned with a product from poor boy's (can't remember the name off the top of my head). Along with the mk5 golf gti seats my mum helped me make a new gear gaitor in the same purple suede as the rest of the interior with yellow stitching to match the outside of the car and the vents and inner door handles on the door cards have all been wrapped in carbon fibre. Tyres were dressed in auto glym's tyre dressing and the mercedes hubcaps as previously mentioned were polished up with autosol along with the exhaust tip and back box. Then to top it off used the detail spray on to to give it the extra shine. Me being picky though want them shinier lol. 

 

Anyway that's just a quick rundown of what I'd done before the show so I'll let the pictures from now do the talking! Any feedback or comments are much appreciated!

Really appreciate the nice comments dude! Still loads to do haha! Next thing is wider bandeds that I can fit these hubcaps on and depending on how wide I decide arches will be redone and just a long time to save up for air so the ride is more comfortable and that way I don't have to worry about speed humps haha. Plus lows obviously lol 

Sick changes, mate! Did you changed anything on the mechanical part? I mean suspension, ecu, direction etc.

And yellow with purple? Perfect combination in my opinion.
