Hello,

I picked up my Polo Gti 1.8 on the 31st of December 2015 (Dealership end of year targets = Good Deals!)

Loving it so far and surprised at how economical it can be when I need it, had it up to 49.6mpg on a 20+ mile run.

Plans are Volkswagen Racing Lowering Springs, Miltek Exhaust System for a little more rasp nothing to loud, swap over the alloys for some nice new ones and lastly some slightly darker tints on the windows.

These will be going ahead providing I can find a reasonable insurer!

Welcome. Enjoy your Polo.

It's so many years since I bought a new car but it was a red Polo GT.

Thanks very much!

This was my first brand new car and will be my last, don't get me wrong I love it but I'm a massive fan of classic cars so when my insurance comes down after having this a few years it'll be something quite a few years older!

Welcome aboard! Make sure you get a project thread up!

Hello!

Welcome to the forum fellow red GTier! I have a 1966 bug too, so understand what you are saying, but lovely to have a new car isn't it? I personally love the alloys and just wouldn't want to change them, even though I keep thinking shall I? I want to lower mine but have the sports pack and wonder how it would affect the stiffening of the dampers etc. Also agree with exhaust change but waiting for 3 year warranty to end. Other thing I am eventually doing is detailing engine bay and waiting for a better air filter, but VW racing have said it's difficult to get anything designed that's better than what's in there, so that's comforting to know.

I am also going to upgrade the fog light bulbs at some point.

There are three of us on here now with red 2015 ones, so make sure you post in mk9 section your story with this one!

Ah i see your problem there i'm sure there must be a way of doing it, i don't want to drop it stupidly low but just enough if you know what i mean!

I am sh*t scared about voiding my warranty so Milltek is definitely going to be last on my list for things to do purely for that reason.

I have only seen one other Polo GTI since I've had it and that was in white i love how few there are of these makes it feel a little bit special! :D

I'm with direct line at the moment and they aren't keen on modifications could you possibly give me a call to discuss an insurance quote with you?

Thanks

Dan

Didn't you get a years free insurance through VW? I did.

WHAT?! I didn't get that!

But to be honest i doubt i would be eligible for it i'm only 20 normally those insurance things are for 21 and over usually.

That would of been great though!!

WHAT? if you're 20 then what was your insurance like if u don't mind me asking? I'm 23 with a 2016 GTI, 1 claim against me, 3 points, got insured for £1300 :-( a bit steep but bit the bullet and went for it.

Welcome mate, looks really smart! I've got to ask though.. How did you get 49mpg out of it? I'm lucky get 32mpg! Had 42mpg sat in average camera 50mph for a good few miles on a motorway but never been close since :-(

Managed 47mpg in my vRS (1.8) today, stuck at 2.5k revs and didn't go over 58/60mph on the M25.... My god it was boring!

The joys of being mid thirties eh!? No you wouldn't have got it as you have to be over 25 to get it in the GTi.
