I'm looking to replace the twin relay holder on my coupe GT 1991 as I still have an ongoing issue with my fuel pump priming. Does anyone have this holder they want to sell?

wouldnt you just replace the wires/terminals ?

the plastic housing wont effect how the car runs

Not found it very easy removing the original terminals. Hacking away at it could damage the original. Don't really know how to slide out the original contacts? Hence, a back up just in case.

easy when you know how ...get a proper removal tool or shove a small watchmakers screwdiver into the right place

see the little bit sticking up on the pic...you to push that down somehow

thin screwdriver or nail works just as well

search terminal removal tool , you can spend alot on them

good skill to learn how to remove the terminals on these cars , dont forget you need proper uninsulated crimpers for the new terminals

Wow. That's pretty expensive for a crimping tool.

yeah there is others , doubt you will get one much under 20£

worth getting the right tool or you will make it worse with bad crimps

Ok. Got this from the scrap yard. Will now look at the contacts on mine to see if there are any dodgy ones. If it goes pear shaped I now have a back up.

Problems with fuel pump here too

relays check oyt but where the F is the fuel pump relay fuse??

i dont have anything where the haynes says it is

all my other fusesare solid

The fuse is a 20 amp yellow to the right of the fuse box. It's a blade type fuse. Replace if you can with new, always a good starting point. Also worth cleaning the earth which is below the near side rear lightbulb holder.

Got it going today after bridging the fuel pump relay

I'm sure that fuel pump relay checked out when i supplied it with 12 v direct  and followed youtube instructions so i expect it to have been contacts in the hokder which is the same as cw above!

Try disconnecting the battery and flooding it with contact cleaner. Let it stand for a while and then dry with a hair drier. Also try and get a fine needle file into the contacts. I tried all these but didn't work for me. Will be replacing my relay block in due course.

 

ps. Flood the relay block not the battery.

Thanks, I've got the appropriate blade remover tool but they are well and truly stuck in!

I couldn't get them out after five minutes faffing tonight so will take more time at the weekend

 

 

Good picture of the blade fuse for the fuel pump relay on p141 of the blue mk3 haynes manual

it is the only picture i could find. My non runner car due to electrical fault fure had no fuse in place took me ages to locate it actually as i thought the empty socket was another early diagnostic socket in addition to the one below the dash

 

why i though it would have two i dont know!

at least its running gears all check out brakes good exhaust fine

just need to put it back and touch up!

I'm still puzzling about the contacts or power and grounds from the black and also the blue yellow wire into the relay

as i said i can get it going no problem with jumped connection but nothing when its all back in and connected so must be connection from black wire and the

. Blue yellow wire that is at fault i thonk!

i have a spare loom fir that part of the car so might swap it over 

but tonight 

i grounded the black wire and melted it so think I've knackered my ecu though it dtill did start with the jumped connection

 

am scratching my head at minute though
