Do you give your cars names?

 

i realised that over the years I've given names to the cars I bought myself, but not really bothered doing it with with company motors I'm less attached to.

 

Couple of my favourites were a mk2 golf called rolf (highly original) and a mini called floyd

 

Still yet to decide what to call the impending arrival, but I'll think of something!

I've got 4 cars. My Porsche (944) is called Anastasia, and I can't remember why I chose that name, but it stuck.

 

Contrary to popular belief, Dora (my Polo mk2f) is not named after the children's cartoon.

 

It was named after this

 

 

1,350-tonne railway gun the Nazis built to annihilate Stalingrad. I figured because both my VW and the above were both German, and both rather epic, I should name one after the other.

 

My Nissan (Primera) is called Neko. It's a Japanese car with the reg T331 MEW, and 'neko' is 'cat' in Japanese. Very pleased with that.

 

I have a few names for the 6n (my Polo Mk3/4). '395' because the reg says 395 and that was what I paid for it, 'baby Audi' because my mods are mainly inspired by the A3 (painted door handles, removed bump strips, etc.), and 'Spud' because in comparison to the mk2f, the 6n looks a bit more like a potato.

Only my GT has a name, but I didn't name it. Because of the last 3 letters of the plate being MBL it does seem pretty obviously that she is called Mabel. 

 

I'm not one for naming cars myself though. Unless they are broken, then they get referred to as "That pile of s**t".

Yeah I've done that too (including the swearing )
My first car reg ended in WLM so got called WiLMa

 

The incoming GTI is gonna be called Pablo though, since it's being built in Spain (& 'Pablo' isn't that far off 'Polo') Apparently Pablo means 'small' too so it seems apt for a car that looks like a little version of a Golf 

Names for cars I've owned that spring to mind are Amy, Ghertrude, Emma and Roxy usually isnpired by the numberplate or some over interesting feature

Thought for a minute I was going to have to change Pablo to Paolo after the sales guy in the local VW place told me with absolute confidence they were made in Portugal, not Spain

All my cars have names, the Polo GTi is Diablo Rojo or Dibs for short.  (Red Devil!). It's Spanish as she is made in Spain!

My 6KV5 is called Ellie, after a team leader at work. 

First car was Miami Blue so I called it Miami Vice

Second car was Jazz Blue and I called it Jasmine

Sixth car was already named Gloria and now owned by @citrus on here who I believe is carrying the name :)

I don't usually name stuff, the 6n2 was the derv for many years and got named Simone (tendencies of that car leaned towards it being female!) as the plate ended in XSM

 

My old rocco, was rocky (original...) or the old git, usually when it was broken...

 

My Corrado VR6 was Mawt (M...AWT) and my A5 is Tia (XTL on the end)

 

Still not got a name for the RE2000 Scirocco, (H...PVE) though due to the tornado pink paint and the state it was in, its be dubbed the red shed  

I name my cars, 

 

my old 6n2 was called Brutus

 

my 9n3 was called Girtrud (CRASHED NEED HELP!!!!! SEE POST 

And my SQ5 is called Bertha

 

 

No. I'm far more attached to my fridge, and not even that has a name.
